I'm putting back together my '76 volare and have a problem. The front bumper shock mount posts to mount it to the frame are too long and make the bumper stick out an inch or so. is there a way of compressing the mount?

Thanks!

It occurs to me I could drill out the slot that allows adjustment of the bumper where it mounts to the frame. I can do that if nothing else.

Hmmmm, it's usually the other way around. You might be able to compress it with a big enough hydraulic press. By hand, no.

Do you have some pictures?
I don’t understand what you are asking.

I happened to be driving my ’77 Volare today so these pictures were taken a few moments ago.
This car has 36k miles on it, never been in accident and these parts have never been touched (about as original as one will find).
