Hi,
I'm going to be picking this up complete this weekend and I'm curious.... It looks like the spool engine mounts are set for a slant six but the guy selling it said he dropped it out the with the 318 drivetrain still on it.

Maybe it had conversion mounts, I don't know yet. Just looks like the mounts are WAY off to the passenger side to me, more so than I've seen... maybe its an illusion or my warped brain lol

So what say you? /6 or 8?

The engine is offset on V-8 K-frames by about two inches to the passenger side for steering gear clearance and for the necessary driveshaft angle (both up/down and side/side.

I would think having driveshaft go towards the differential at a straight line would be best, but engineers have determined having driveshaft go at a double angle is best (don’t ask me why, for IDK).

The centerline of engine/transmission is parallel to centerline of rear differential/car body, but offset by roughly two inches to passenger side of car.

I have a V-8 K-frame out and by my garage.
If I can remember, I will take some pictures for comparison.

Mind if I ask what is being asked for the before mentioned setup?

I took some pictures.
Can't see much from the snow – this is out of an '84 Gran Fury AHB (police).

Center perch to center perch (about 13¾”)

Left perch center to left upright (about 9½”)

Right perch center to right upright (about 12”)

A /6 measurements will be way off of the above numbers.

Edit: What I refer to an “upright” is the part that goes straight up at the red arrows (indicated).
Perch is what I refer to what the engine mount goes into.

Chrysler may have another name for these items.

I was under the impression that the transverse K's were the same for 6s to SBMs; and only the engine brackets were different. Good thing Ididn't try and drop a teener in my 1980 Volare on it's 6banger K!
According to the part books, they made 4 different K-frames.
/6 and V-6. Then a Police/Taxi version of both.

I can't see any difference between a standard version or HD version of either, so in my opinion, there are two versions of FMJ K-frames (/6 and V-8).

The bent bar K frames are the same for fmj EXCEPT the ds motor mount.
The slant ds mount is much taller than the ps mount.

sort of...but not really. Its front to back position is different as well. The height is the easiest way to spot the differences.
Schumacher makes a conversion kit to use the slant K for a V8.
I have used one and its very simple to install and fits well.

Well thank you everyone for the replies. I went and picked up the loaded K and there was definitely a v8 on it as he had the engine right there. The K is in the back of my van now and still on a pallet screwed on a 4x8' sheet of ply which made it easy to slide into the van as well as wire and screw down so it wouldn't move around.

The brakes (disks and pads) are pretty much new! no major rust at all. The car was parted in order to restore for an elderly lady her 5th Ave by the shop I got this from.

I look forward to cleaning this up and learning more about it

Oh the kframe part number stamped to the bottom front lip is 209-1 880
I'll try looking it up in an online FSM if I can find one.

I doubt that number (209-1 880) will be found printed anywhere.
Most likely it is vender number and date of manufacture (or something like that).
