Some of you may know that I have been working on doing a "slow motion" flip of a house for the past few years. My good friend and I have been working on it every weekend, vacations, and many, many evenings and FINALLY, we finished it! I listed it for sale in November, and it sold in only two weeks for almost full asking price. We did almost all the work ourselves and completely renovated it: new roof, gutters, siding, trim, windows, stairway, deck, screened porch, complete kitchen, tile floors, recessed lighting, refinished hardwood floors, new doors, 200 amp electric, new central air, plumbing, complete new bath, completely finished off the formerly unfinished second floor, and painted everything. The only things we contracted out were the central air, the roof and some of the electric. We are pleased with how it turned out, and it was a great experience, but it was stressful and other things (like our own houses) got neglected. This is also why OY still hasn't been upgraded yet. So, hopefully I will have more time to put into everything that has been waiting, like OY, this year. Here are some pics of the finished house:

The second floor loft and bedroom. We hand built all the board & batten doors using the 50 year old solid pine paneling that we salvaged from the original kitchen walls...

Looks really good. Congratulations. But no photo of the garage interior?
I have probably thousands of pics from start to finish, but unfortunately, not in any sensible order, so I have to search to try to find what I want. Here is a few of before and after of the garage. It is a fairly deep, but only single car garage. We had to put up 5/8 fire resistant drywall on the house side to meet code, so while we were at it, we did the entire thing. We also put in six recessed lights to take the place of the original single bulb. Patched cracked and uneven floor areas, painted, new doors...it came out nice. Can't seem to find pics of it completely finished.

Awesome work...
I bow to your skills and results!

If my brother ever moves out, I have big plans to finish the interior downstairs...
Sigh.
Meanwhile ... weather permitting, exterior work will recommence next month.

Thank you all. It was a lot of work (and I hate doing drywall and plumbing) but it came out well. I found some pics of all the doors we made for the second floor and the door by the stairway using the old kitchen paneling we salvaged. I just couldn't bear to trash it. Solid 50 year old tongue and groove yellow pine. It came in handy as all the doors were weird sizes and two had to have dog-ears cut out on top to fit the sloping roof. We used up almost all of it. Working with wood is much more fun.

The old table saw is a Sears Craftsman bought new by my grandfather in about 1948 when he was remodeling an old one room schoolhouse into a home. It still works great!!

A pink and yellow house?
Actually, the siding was originally sort of a faded red cement shingles. We removed them and then wrapped the house in Tyvek, and then sided it with vinyl. Siding with vinyl is actually quite easy and fun. I bought scaffolding to avoid having to balance on ladders which made things much easier. This pic is early on when I had just started to remove some of the overgrown shrubs.

We also had a friend who is an arborist help by dropping several huge maples that were way too close to the house. That provided quite a bit of great firewood for our woodstoves at home.
