Hello folks. I want to introduce myself & my J body racer. I’m the new owner of the ex Charles Myers 82 Imperial NHRA stock eliminator car. One of 3 FMJ’s I currently own. I was a member here many years ago with my M body which I still have. Ok the Imperial has been a drag car since 1985. I’m the third owner of it since 85. Charles raced it for about 10 years in Q stock & P stock. I’m told the car was black many years ago. I have not yet been to the track with it but hopefully when the weather warms up. If you’re not familiar with S/E racing it’s restricted on what modifications are allowed & NHRA has horsepower & weight factors that have to abide by. Makes it tough. The car runs 12.85 @ 4230 pounds. Which is a tiny bit over weight by rule. The only engine legal is a 318 LA. Any LA head or stock cast iron intake is legal. Only a factory style Thermoquad carb is legal. About the only thing not stock in the engine is the cam, springs, & pistons. The cam has to have stock lift, but any duration. Cam has to be hydraulic. No porting is allowed. .030 over bore is allowed. No fiberglass or light weight body parts or Lexan. It has a 904 trans with a 4500 stall converter. Reverse valve body. All brakes are stock. It has a 8 3/4 rear with a 6:13 gear on a spool & Moser axels. All legal. No hood scoop, turbos or NOS is allowed. I have removed Charles name from the door & will have a new name on the car hopefully by spring. I’ve removed Charles # & will apply for my own #. Current plans are to make a couple TNT’s & if all goes well maybe a bracket race or two to get familiar with it. If all that goes well then I’ll attempt to qualify at a NHRA Divisional probably in 2024. I have a 1977 B body Plymouth Fury named FURYIOUS as my bracket car. I believe this is the only Imperial currently racing & legal in NHRA. And the only one to race in Stock. I also may enter the car in the Carolina Class racers events. I’m enclosing a few pics of the car when Charles raced it & a few of it in my shop. Thank you
