One of my favorite shows of all time. Still remember watching it way back then, even though I was only 4 years old when it started in 1968. Thought it was funny then but later on I figured out why my parents were laughing their asses off! When you're 5 years old, a lot of the jokes go right over your head you know. Man I wish some channel would rerun that show........

Rocky and Bullwinkle is the same way. Laughed at it as a kid, but the puns were for adults.

I think Laugh-In prompted a lot of other "subversive" shows, like the Smother's Brothers, and Hee Haw. While they were all sort of light hearted comedy, if you listen to the jokes carefully, a lot of them are pretty cutting political commentary.

These shows were made at a time when free speech ruled, and political correct speech had never been heard of. Calling something not politically correct to speak about is a coward's way of avoiding something that they are afraid to talk about, or defend.

I actually love the nostalgia of the past .. but learned a while ago .. the past was a time .. not a place ... doesn't stop me from longing for it tho

I do miss those days of common sense.
