Old negatives of my Aspen from 1982 and 1984.
The old 110 film makes the car look more pink, but the old 35mm look ok.

All the land in the older pics are now houses.

Man, wish I had decent pics like that from "back in the day". Never was a photo taker back then I guess. Probably the cost of film and developing. Actually, that was the exact reason!
I feel old suddenly. Graduated high school in 1982 and then from North Central Technical College, way up on the north side, in 1984.

I wish I has pics when it was Spitfire orange and the lower black stripe.

Spooky story with the bridge pics.
Had borrowed a 35mm for the day to take car pics.
At one point I stopped at The Donnelly's grave site for a background.
NONE of those pics turned out at all, but the ones before and after did.

Now it sits covered in dust.
Back in @ 1990 I got a NOS quarter panel next to free because the dealer was going to toss it.

Anything similar to that around here is long gone. Far as I'm aware, there isn't any "abandoned" type structures, bridges, buildings, old unused roads, etc in this area for cool car photo's.
The few I do know of, you can't get a car anywhere near them, much less get close enough for a photo period. "No Trespassing", "Private Property", "Keep Out", etc. I do know of one road about 1/8 mile long that got cut off when a freeway was built and it's a road that goes absolutely nowhere, with nothing but an old, abandoned gas station and a bunch of trees and underbrush, it has steel posts with a huge chain blocking access.

I guess if it's still sitting as-is, the old Mountain Lanes over in Wausau on N 17th Ave might make for a good photo with the car, if all the snow melts before next winter.
I remember this place almost 40 years ago and it's a figment of it's former self. Shame. I love mid century modern architecture and this building really got let go. Not sure when they shut down. I guess 4 or 5 years ago. I only hope someone restores the original architecture instead of tearing it down and putting up some generic box which seems to happen all too often.

That bridge looks like Wisconsin or Missouri, Wisconsin is good for having weight restriction roads and bridges and not posting them or only posting them from one way.

A lot of secondary roads and city streets here have weight restrictions in the spring, when the frost is coming out. Too much weight and all the frost heaves will get broken up before they settle back level on their own. This year, the frost heaves are ree-friggin-diculous.

There are good photo op's in my area, but you have to get there before it's gone.

1982/84, average guy might have got a VCR and C/D player at big bucks and phones had cords.
VCR, C/D, corded phone, film, carburetors and computer 56K warning is ancient history now.

Same here, I have very very few pics from way back and the ones I have suck. (Polaroids) I kinda lived in the moment and I never really thought about that stuff. I felt like taking pictures were silly for some reason. I don`t think I even owned a camera except the Polaroid Instant.
Ironically, now I really enjoy when I look back at old photos from the area where I grew up that have been posted online..

I had a Kodak 110 pocket camera back then.
Wish I took more pics of the empty spaces that are now filled.

That Aspen was the worst car mistake.
    I had looked at a 70 Superbird, blue, black interior/ white seats, 440, 4bbl, auto, 45,000 miles for $4500.
The bird was in near new condition, but he wouldn't move on the price.
I was saying that it wasn't even $4500 when new.
    Bought a Aspen instead.

I'm impressed you still have the Aspen. Why have you let it sit so long without keeping up on it? You have the famed stock pile of parts. :) You could really bring that car back as a true head turner.

Before I got a digital camera around 2002 (was one of the things you got while on a 5-day cruise from Ford Motor Company for becoming a "Senior Master Technician"), there are very few photos worth a crap. Until I finally bought a computer in 2006, there weren't a whole lot of digital photos either. I'm usually behind the times, have never had a DVD player (don't really have a use for one anyways) and still don't have a cell phone, or a laptop, or any of the other "devices" they talk about all the time, non stop, not on Face Book, I don't "tweet" or "hash tag" or "snapchat" or what ever the bleep it's called either. Oh well, I'm happy that way...............:)

Come summer, I think I'm going to do some exploring around this area and see what I find that I never knew existed as far as abandoned buildings or roads that time forgot. Dr Lebaron has gotten my curiosity up.

Go on Google street side and explore from the computer.
That's how I can check if a road stays paved.

It was the show car it was until 88/89 when it became a weekend 1/4 mile car and moonshine car.
1997, I got the Lebaron, got older and liked A/C.

Then we have stupid laws intended to ricers, but we get hung too.
32mph over or a burnout, tire squeal, launch, will get the car impounded for 7 days and license suspended for how ever long.
    No fun anymore.

Forgot to say, that was (is) a good looking car. The first two photos where it looks pinkish look cool, kind of like Panther Pink, not pink like the '50's bathroom in my childhood home, lol.

Funny how what you wanted/liked when you were younger change over time. 18 years old, who needs A/C or an auto trans? 35 or 40 years later all 3 of my vehicles are automatics and have A/C. What the hell happened to me?
