Hey, everyone....

I'm guessing it was a trip to the evil car wash, but when I was driving today (''77 LeBaron coupe) the driver's side rocker trim piece suddenly came nearly entirely off. It being about 8 degrees here, I made only a lame-o attempt to replace it, but I'm guessing there's an end cap? missing or some other retainer clip. I haven't gone out to look at it on my drive (too darned cold). But I'm hoping to get this back on. I just secured winter storage (tad late) and want to put it back in one piece. I'll look closer at it tomorrow after work (and maybe take a pic), but I'm hoping somebody may weigh in with a good suggestion. :icon_confused:

Sounds like either snapped trim clips....or if you're lucky the car wash just pulled the trim off the clips.

They look pretty much like this.

The little plastic pieces that look like antennae act like a spring.....you put the trim on bottom first.....those "springs" go in the bottom of the trim then you gently push up and snap the trim over the top of the clip.

They're notorious for breaking and are very brittle.
If a bunch are broken you could run the part number on Marty's Arizona Parts site.....he may have some.

strongly recommend eBay or My-craigs-finder.com if you have the Pmoparnumber, search that in addition to just the nomenclature -google searches eBay better than eBay searches eBay
you need to search weekly if it is a rare part

Worked, Cap'n! Thank you! I am going to pick up more clips. The ones on are quite brittle, as you predicted. And thanks for the lead, Grey!

Thanks so much again, Cap. Hey, quick follow-up question for ya. Do these trim clips have parts numbers on them? The LeBaron's in the shop now for some work, so I can't tell. I want to see if I can find an entire set of them to replace my brittle ones and stash the rest.

Yes they do.
They all have a part number stamped on them.
Run the number through Marty's site.
He might have them.

8' fahrenheit is way too cold to take a car through a car wash. All kinds of bad things can happen.

Cold and trim don't generally get along sometimes.....I had a wad of wheel well slush take out the bottom of my wheel well trim today.
Had to reinstall in the dark in the bank parking lot in an arctic hurricane.....good times in T.O.

Here is your clip.

20150314_152651.jpg

It's mounted to two pins that are welded to the rocker.

You'll notice the clips have a slot in them that allow you to slide them to the other side of the slot that's cut into them.
One side of each of the slots has a hole big enough to clear the pins.

Start with the bottom.

Tap the clip on the bottom right so you're pushing it to the left which will allow you to pull it over the pin.

Then just push the clip up and the hole at the bottom of that slot will clear that pin....and you're done.

Thanks for the lead, Lowbie. But who is Marty? Do you have a link or number? BTW, my trim clips look somewhat different. They have the attennae but are shorter than what you guys have pictured.

Near as I can figure, the parts number is 600 3633. Second number appears to 96322-6. Arizona parts lists moulding clips with number 600 3663. I'll try calling them, but dunno where this will go. Sure would like my moulding back up. The LeBaron looks grubby with a piece missing. And my gas cap door is also currently off. Grrr!

If Marty has them listed then you should be good to go.

Thought everyone would want to know...
While I couldn't locate NOS or just old clips anywhere I tried, a local body shop was able to fab clips (wish I had a picture). He put fresh ones on under my rocker trim--both sides--for $55!. Yay for Yankee ingenuity!
