I just bought a 83 Mirada with the floor shift.
At first I thought that the adjustment rod on the transmission had slipped,
so I loosened the nut and put the trans lever in park and the console shifter in park
and tightened the nut.
Every selection on the shifter only moves it forward.
No reverse, no neutral and still wants to move in park.
Is this tranny fried?

Sounds like something in the valve body is stuck or broken.

I assume you mean park actually engages(?)
If so, my first guess would be the manual lever came out of the manual spool valve somehow (unlikely), or the tang that engages the spool valve broke off the manual lever, etc... You'll have to drop the pan to have a look-see.

Yeah it engages in park because it starts in the park position,
But when first started it still wants to leap a little.
Then you move it to reverse and still pulls forward,
Then you move it to neutral and still pulls forward,
and then all the drive positions pull forward as they should.

I moved the lever on the transmission back and forth before I tightened it,
and it is tight.

I guess I'll have to drop the pan and have a look as suggested.
if its not a easy fix, I'll just change out the 904.

Thanks Guys.
