I need some help. I drove my bother's Volare to the spot we did he swap at. Took the slant six and trans out. Today, put a 318 and auto trans in is place. I hooked up the coil and plugged the connector into the distributor, ran all the plug wires. There's air an fuel, but no spark.

What have I overlooked? Possible causes? It turn over very nicely, just no spark.

Thanks.

I had to unbolt the ignition box from the passenger side inner fender in because the connector to the distributor was not long enough to reach. I didn't find a good place to bolt it down to, so I set it on the washer bottle. Would this cause the ignition loss? Does bolting it down create a ground that it needs?

Yes, the ICU does need to be grounded to work.
Matter of fact, it helps to scrape away some paint from where it attaches to – just to make sure you have good ground.

Making sure there is a ground strap from rear of engine to firewall, is also very important. that small part has removed many technician hair.
