Hi all .. 1980 F body owner, super 6 .. got a problem and don't know why .. I was driving out in the county and my speedo was saying 80kms/hr .. but my gps was telling me I was doing 88kms/hr ..... after arriving home I took my daughters car out and the gps registered within 1 km/hr. at different speeds ...... what would account for the discrepancy? As far as I know everything is stock .. tranny, rear-end, and wheels. Any Ideas? thanks

Probably tires, but mechanical speedometer calibration can slowly shift over time. There are shops out there than can re-calibrate it, but a drive gear swap may be cheaper

Yep. Was going to say rims or tires could do it. 15's on my Volare threw it out a bit.
Thanks all.
stock tires .. 195/75/14's .. I'll just keep pace with traffic and I'm never usually in a hurry anyways ... got more pressing problem anyways .. I'll post if I can't find an answer in search.

I wouldn't believe GPS.
It couldn't even find the library in NYC the day after tomorrow.
The couple of time I used one, what a joke for directions.

I thought so too .. that's why I verified with the daughters 200

Went out, around the corner thankfully turned the wipers on and clunk .. no wipe wipers .. searches are telling me it's the cam, and we're getting big, wet, sloppy, heavy snow.
