Yeah I know, the dreaded Tire Size Question. I searched the Forum and can't find any threads on this subject.

Last week we picked up a 79 Aspen RT, It's got 14 Inch Keystone Klassic Rims on it but each one has a different tire size on it. The Door Pillar sticker is long since had it and is faded to where I can't read anything on it. All Four Tires are SHOT on the Aspen, had to borrow tires and rims off my Dart to get it home on a Tow Dolly.
Since this will be a daily Driver once I get it running again, Does anyone know what the Original Tire Sizes were on these things or a rough estimate. or a Good Tires Size match that would give it a little More height in the rear than in the front (Like an Air Shock Look but without the air shocks). I would like to pick up some cheap tires for it (the expensive ones can come later) sometime next week but not sure what sizes to get. I got lucky on the Dart because it had all 4 matching Tires and the Original owner bought the same size every time they replaced them.

THANK YOU MUCH IN ADVANCE for any help you can give me on this.
Dave

I went out and looked at the sticker on my 80 Volare,
and its says Minimum tire size is 195/75/R14

Which is too small IMO.
I just put 225/70/15s on it,they fit nice and raised it up.

My owners manual list these for possible stock 14" sizes:
D78-14
DR78-14 (195)
ER78-14 (?)
FR70-14 (205)
FR78-14 (205)
In it's former life, my car had 225/70R14 on 14x6 wheels. They looked "right" on the car (JMO)
Couple not so clear digital photos of film photos reference pics. Same car, same tires, just different wheels and a different point in time.

I think he said he wanted to keep the 14's.
Any ideas a good size to go with for those?

Thats why I listed what the Factory Chrysler tag said on my door jam.
Minimum size 195/75/14

and I showed him what a 225/70/15 looks like.

205, 215, 225 x14 are all good, depending on how wide he wants to go.

But 195x75x14 is a dinky size.

Does anyone know what the Original Tire Sizes were

I saw that. But the minimum IS dinky. I figured you might know a good suggestion for a bigger 14.....which you did.

Thank you

Thanks every one Greatly. It's been a while since I messed with Tire Sizes (Brain Fog).

Yeah, 14's are kinda Dinky, but like I said, I already have the rims that came with the car, but each one had a different size on it, 195,205, 210 and a friggin 215. The only one that matched anything was the spare with another 205 on it. Running 195/75/14 on the Dart Sport and they LOOK dinky on it. I guess the only real drawback to running Larger Diameter tires on the back and smaller on the front would be having to carry two spares in the trunk, one for the front, one for the rear. I've always liked my "Muscle" Cars to look a little Raised up (We called it Jacked up, when I was younger) in the rear. Eventually I will get some Air Shocks to help out in that department.

Would 225's on the Rear (not concerned about width right now) and 195's on the Front accomplish what I want.

The only 15 Inch Rims I have out here are off a Ramcharger (Different bolt Pattern) and 15 incher's off a 2002 Chrysler Mini Van (same bolt pattern but offset is not right and rims are ugly). The Apsen Came with Keystone Classics and those are good Rims to me. My 74 Road Runner has the 14 Inch Rallye Rims and the 76 Dart Sport has the Plain ol Steel Rims at 14 inch with Hubcaps (will replace those eventually with either Rallye or Slotted Dish Mags, 15 inchers if I can find them, same with the RR, I prefer 15 inch Rims but Money constraints are killing me LOL)

nvrmnd, scratch that, Width is the first number (Brain Fog) and Height is the 2nd Number).

So I am thinking 195/60 14 on the Front, and 195/85 14 on the rear. IF I can find them.

You will probably have a hard time finding anything higher than 75 as a height. Something like the 195/60-14 in the front, and 225/70-14 in the back (although the fronts may end up with a wider tread than the rears) may give you the look you want..

IMO, 235/75/14 on the rear and 225/75/14 on the front mounted on your Keystones would look decent.

A 195 is a narrow width
75 is a decent height, but no lower then a 70

Look at CL for tire deals, I bought 2 215/70/15s for 20.00
There now on the front of the Mirada and look good.

I usually run 225s on the front, but for 10.00 ea, I'll run the tread off of them.

Well, looks like I may have to put the Tires on hold for a while, Gonna be picking up an 86 Dippy Next week with some Front End Damage from a Deer on it. Nothing Major but worth the 800 bucks I think. Will post pics in a Dippy Section of it.

I run 215/60/15 in the front and 235/75/15 in the rear, gives it a nice lift in the rear and good highway mileage

I have 235/70/15 on police rims on the back and 225/70/15 on the front of a 80 Volare Duster.
I have no issues with them fitting or rubbing ect.
