I found out on the first one it very easy to slide the seatbelt out of the loop by leaving the top screw in and carefully prying a gap open at the bottom while sliding the seatbelt out...this is how faded they are..the very worst looking thing inside the car..

Done

Before: I scrubbed with soapy water...and inserted toothpick to keep the halfs from sticking together...sprayed and wiped off the prep and let them dry...

After: I sprayed it with the sand free then three light coats of color 5 minutes apart...the temp was 73 degrees so they dried fast....

Looks new to me..I also like how it leaved the grain detail alone..I will take two more pics later on when I put them back on the seats..

I was chuckling at the comment about how the seats look now that the belt loops are done and on the seats again. Need to find dark blue B-pillars for the AHB; the car was driven down to Alabama and it sat in a carport facing west. For about 2-2 1/2 years. So the A-pillars and the leading edges of the B-pillars got cooked to a faded, caulky consistency. There was a sunshade on the dash the whole time, so the dash is pristine (not to mention I found one in a yard a few months ago, so I got a spare), but where the sun got through is murdered.

A 5th Ave might be able to donate to the cause. The A-pillar covers were usually cloth covered. I'm kicking myself in the butt for not ripping the ones out of my wife's old '87. It was the only M-body I sent to the crusher whole. Gave up in the dead of winter and I didn't feel like standing outside in a foot of snow ripping parts off. My buddy who owns the yards took the header and the wheels off for me and away the car went.

Interior Paint

That paint looks great. Over the winter my son and I have been doing a resto-mod on his 80 volare RR clone and yes the interior plastic is badly faded so I went to the local auto paint supply and found a product that is just like you have there called Sem it comes in rattle cans or you can buy it mixed to any colour you want reduce and spray works very well. I have lots of pics of the project but I am waiting for my son to resize them as they won't load on this site but they will over on FABO so when he does this I will do a resto thread.

Boy do I feel dumb looking back at your thread I noticed that it is the same product (hey it's early) but at least you know that you can buy it locally and don't have it shipped.:sleepy2:

Yep I found it on-line and yes you can get it at some good local paint stores..I have yet to see it in any of the box stores such as Napa, Advanced Auto parts etc...

The fact that it's not too thick and keeps the grain detail, makes that #1 in my book.

I cleaned up my cowl screen. It had a faded spot on the very front so I wanted to give that SEM color coat another try. I found the 15243 Satin black at my PPG paint store. I cleaned it with hot soapy water first then used their prep spray and sand free spray. Then three coats of the satin black.

I took this picture with my camera at night...there are two lighted up areas that are not representing the results. Look at the overall satin black color.

Sweet- might have to try this on the GF's A & B-pillars. They are suppose to be dark blue, but are more of a chalky light blue at the moment (they are toast). I have replacements (A-pillars are the light blue, from an '89 GF; B-pillars are from an '87 5th and are opaque- that glue was a mother bear to get off).
