    looking for gauges

I had started looking at a method for replacing the digi-dash in my Imperial. That's pretty intense...and the boost gauge is certainly raising an eyebrow over here. Couple of questions: What all did you have to mine out of the dash to fully clear out all of the old equipment, and have you tested...

Big Block Guys, Need Advice: 400ci and 727 into an Imperial

So far, all signs point to a low-mile engine that was left to sit for a while after it got pulled. Only damage is the windage tray under the intake manifold, it's got pinhole rust from some weird insulation-like crap that was stuffed inside. Internals clean up beautifully after a quick bath in...

I'm not keeping that .....er in the trunk, Brian. Besides, the courts have first dibs on his carcass, I get the scraps afterwards.

Big Block Guys, Need Advice: 400ci and 727 into an Imperial

I'll take a look at the K-frame on mine for the welds for sure. The 440 into a Diplomat I helped with in about 2006 wasn't as bad of a fit as I remember, so I'm hoping that the stock booster will clear. I'm not bothered if I have to get it out of the way to drop the engine in, but if it fits...

Big Block Guys, Need Advice: 400ci and 727 into an Imperial

Car is getting power, so I'm looking at rear ends. Was under the impression a big-block Cordoba master cylinder will work, do not want to go the K-car route. I need to figure out what needs to be done to the K-frame now while I've got everything out, or do I just wait until I start the trial...

Big Block Guys, Need Advice: 400ci and 727 into an Imperial

Yep, it's official: I'm big-blocking my '83 Imperial. It's not my first go-around with shoving a big block into an FJM, but last time was a 440 and the guy I was helping...well...his "come hell or high water" approach made for some interesting stories. This will be a 1975 400ci and 727...

J Body Hardest parts to find

Bruceynz: The guy who is building the SRT-8 Mirada (search Facebook for build) was going to buy the glass out of my Mirada until a vandal broke it. He ended up getting a windshield made, said it set him back roughly $1300 USD. As far as parts go, my money is on the weatherstripping for the...

Parts Wanted: Shopping List, January 2015

Just putting this out there, if you have anything let me know. All parts are destined for an '83 Imperial, but if I didn't specify, then any FMJ part meeting criteria will work. Gray driver's side seatbelt anchor, with wiring intact Complete Imperial engine bay harness. Don't care about...

Here's the full horror show. Engine was dropped off at the machine shop, it comes up in the queue next week for a full teardown and check. http://bangshift.com/general-news/project-cars/mopar-projects/project-raven-open-heart-surgery-part-1-open-imperials-engine/

Wow!... Super rare M body for sale.

It's a very interesting car, yes, but it's been seen in person and has the kind of rust and botched rust repair that makes even jaded East Coasters run like hell.

What Task Have You Done On Your F body That You Hated The Most

Electrical work, plastic repair work on the dash, and whoever designed the Imperial's grille should've stepped into fast-moving traffic on the Interstate. What a pain in the ass that is to remove. The tool list includes the arms of a four-year-old and a triple-jointed wrist.

    Imperial's Dead...

No problem. Always helps to have a different set of eyes on a problem. Technically, the engine was running alright (not as good as when it was first put in the Mirada post-"rebuild" but still enough that it did a nice burnout before starting the teardown) but the power level is inexcusable for a...

    Imperial's Dead...

I got it. Problem is, there's no money to get it yet, and the bosses won't come back online (phone or otherwise) until Monday...it was an agreement that we all would be taking off for some family time and I'm not going to interrupt that.

    Imperial's Dead...

Kostas, I decided against pulling the con rods and the crank for the moment while I wait on the powers-that-be to figure out what they want to do. Personally, this engine was a PITA when it was in the Mirada, it's been overheated (Seattle traffic in July and a dead clutch fan), and that doesn't...

    Imperial's Dead...

Ok, I've done everything but pull the pistons out. Here's how bad things are: 1. Main caps 2,3, and 4 are worn to the copper. 2. The pistons look like hell. I can't see any crosshatching in the cylinders, but I also can't see any damage either. 3. After a half hour with foaming Gunk and a...

Nope. The blood was contained to the intake valley and the valve covers, and was cleaned before photos were taken.

    Imperial's Dead...

Ok, I've been gone a while...been busy with work. Finally yanked motor and trans. So far, the trans is severely roasted...the smell of the trans fluid coupled with what was found in the drain pan told that story. Engine looks alright for now, but I've only seen the top end so far.
