    833 O/D? Made from 76 up into the late 80's at least. Somewhat common behind a slant six in trucks, but can be made to work with new bell housing, which is either easy to find and pricy, or moderately difficult to find and a lot cheaper.

    2 fender tags?

    If it was built at Lynch Road, it will have a second tag used an an inspection stamp. It will also be more difficult to decode. Are there codes on the tag, or just one punch mark or a one letter stamp? If there are several 3 or 4 digit codes, it's probably a high option car.

    I have to say that there's some prevously fixed quarter rust very evident in one pic. Is it 1/2" wide or 4 1/2" wide? Hard to tell from just a pic, but you can definately see its rusted, fixed, and rusted again. Is that the only spot? Possible but not likely. Just my observations from...

    crappy mileage in 318 '76 Volare

    Out of the box solution I used to use while setting timing- I used to pull up and touch the front bumper to a phone pole, then leave it in drive, and get out and load the engine while moving the dist. Worked and saved a ton of time getting in, driving, stopping, getting out, repeating, etc...

    I've never had a newer 318 than 73 until now, but I've had 5 of them and they all got in the neighborhood of 20 MPG average, even with a 3.23 rear. I'm betting the 87 roller 9:1 with lockup trans gets at least as good, if not better!

    Thanks. This cars tag looks more like what I'm used to seeing on earlier cars. That diagram you linked to doesn't have as many places for codes. I don't see a place for the AHB code, which is clearly on the car I'm looking at, as well as a slew of other codes organized like a "traditional"...

    What am I looking for on an 87 VIN for axle codes. Pretty sure they changed year to year. I'm more familliar with 66/67 VINs and it was the number under the letter A, Different numbers meant different gears, and then if there was a number under the X it was SG IIRC.

    The Seafoam can I saw at the local parts store clearly said right on the front of the can..."for fuel system only", as if to indicate that they were aware that people were using it in the crankcase, and that was not the manufacturer's intent.

    Posted on B body, but this is more of a late LA issue, so maybe you guys can help- Working on a 1987 5.2 roller- I was pulling off the front end to change a water pump, and put on a 4 bbl intake, and... There was a bunch of carbon "sheets" directly uder the intake, and a moderate ammount...
