    Hortens & the King

Looks like another American firm has taken the "jump ship" approach to paying corporate taxes. By merging with Tim Hortens, Burger King dodges having to pay certain corporate taxes. May e we should all move to a foreign country to avoid paying our fair share. I think everyone would like to get...

    Factory 1993 Chrysler/Infinity 6disc changer trouble code

Riding solo w/no tunes for 12 hrs totally sucked. Thank God I still have the auto trans in there; as I'd never have made it in bumper to bumper traffic for 3 hrs with a stick!

    Factory 1993 Chrysler/Infinity 6disc changer trouble code

When the changer blew a fuse, a disc was stuck in the player side, instead of the magazine side. After I removed all the discs, it was able to scan & eject the frozen disc. Bottom line: tunes on the way home!

    Factory 1993 Chrysler/Infinity 6disc changer trouble code

I had a fuse blow in the factory 6 disc changer in my trunk. When I replaced the fuse, the trouble code "E-02" showed up on the remote LED. Once again, I'm in Va. Beach, w/o access to the troubleshooting guide for the changer. Last week, that tornado that touched down in Brunswick, Ohio was 500...

    Holley VS Carter.

Ethanol: legal drinking & driving! When prepping a TQ for rebuild, don't bead blast or wire wheel the throttle shafts. That is a Teflon coating, which if intact, will offer some resistance to the corn squeezin's you're feeding your engine. Too bad the same cant be said for the rest of the fuel...

    leather split bench seats

The Imperial's manual door lock is at the end of the door panel. I know Mirada's have them near the middle. Does your car have center or rear manual locks? You may need the linkage to match the Imp door panels.

    Roof Repaint?

For repairs, go to your local school bus garage. They have a vinyl that looks like Elmer's Glue, spreads with a spatula, heat with a heat gun, but before it completely sets, use the grain pattern sheet to "texture" the vinyl. Finish heat curing the vinyl, then paint with vinyl dye. Vinyl dye &...

Body Work Questions For The Experts

Yeah, what he said. When you go to roll back the vinyl, I like to heat the vinyl until pliable. That way you minimize the chances of splitting it. Don't go Gonzo with an industrial heat gun, an ordinary blow dryer should do the trick. Without actually seeing it in person, it may require new...

See what I mean? Go into the Docker/Polo shirt wearing "corporate" guy's jobber shop & bring up ANY of the points brought up here, & see what answers you get. The cherry popper for me is when I ask the counter man which systems HE personally uses, or has had the most success with. After the deer...

Iron was a fleet paint billed as an end all paint. Epoxy is used sparingly, as it destroys everything, like the enviorment, painters, etc. but it does have its uses. Powder coat is better, but many moons ago, I used to paint outboard motors in S.W. Fla. with epoxy paint. Did a fine job keeping...

R/R (Remove & Replace with good metal). All of those rust converters, encapsulators, whatever they want to call them are only band-aids to cover something over temporarily. It's not a final solution. My former shop foreskin always wanted to try the latest speciality rust paint. Some work better...

I worked with a guy who used to put his rendition of Niagra Falls (American & Canadian!) in primer & clear coat. His metal skills were marginal at best. But boy could he sling some mud! He could probably build a car completely out of mud, park it next to the real thing, & I'd defy anyone to tell...

Just take your time, ask questions, use trim removal tools instead of prying something off. When the clips release, the strips generally pop off. If they don't, there's probably a missed clip somewhere. Don't pry at that point, you'll probably bend it. Does your local adult education offer auto...

That's how I got started. I got sick of seeing people (including my Dad) pay good money for bad work. READ, READ, READ! After that, read some more. Everything from metal work to final cut & buff is one huge system. Anything skimped on will act like dominos. I'm sure you've seen it a million...

Well let me be the first to say this about that; we talk about old cars, because this site is about old cars. I, probably more than most here get off on a tangent about this or that, not necessarily about F M or J bodies. If Janet's biopsy comes back okay, she'll be driving a Dart II before all...
