So how did we go from looking for the best example of fmj and spending 5 figures, to this? lol
If you'd read the initial post carefully, I said I would go as high as five figures but know enough about the FMJ market to know even solid examples rarely bring that kind of price. As much as I love them, I don't reckon there's a rank-and-file FMJ (that is, excluding E58s, AHBs, R/Ts and Super Coupes) that would approach $10k even if it was close to show condition. Paraphrasing Saul Goodman, "Unless there's $2,000 hooker in the back seat." I fully expect any $7-8 K ordinary FMJ to be in primo shape or it ain't worth the coin.So how did we go from looking for the best example of fmj and spending 5 figures, to this? lol
The tailgate air dam was available on the '76 F's. I have a couple spares in my "toybox", but not sure why. I also have a very nice roof rack, but I prefer OY without it, and don't want to drill holes in my roof. This wagon would look fantastic with the upgraded "Highlander" plaid seats and door panels. No tailgate spoiler – which might not have been a thing in '76.
Looks very nice! I'm in Toulouse visiting relatives till the 20th (if not longer d/t Covid!). Will pm you when I return. Would love to hear more details when you get a chance.@XfbodyX is right, the car is/was out there. I sell you mine for $6k, I'll even fix the little things that are wrong, and you'd still be getting a bargain. These cars aren't getting cheaper, I'm super stoked to have gotten my car at a very reasonable price. But if I sell, it will be listed over what I paid, because I know the market will back me up. I think for 8k you could have a very nice car, I've seen a couple creampuffs listed for $8700-9000 that I'd love to own. I haven't scoured the market for a while, I lucked into my car because I knew the owner and he wasn't looking to make a killing, but I could probably find a half dozen in a day that would for your criteria. If you're looking for perfection, you may never find it, I don't know how picky you are when you're standing in front of a car. But if you have the coin, you should be able to find a car realtively easily.
