Hey all,
I was wondering if anyone would know what two colored wires would be for the brake light switch? 88 Diplomat not sure if it'd be different for F,J bodies. Most of the other wiring I could identify or figure out under the dash getting this car going again. The pedal assembly and other odds and ends were taken off and set aside when I got the car.I think it may be pink, white or yellow.
Also I was trying to find a replacement switch, but haven't found any at napa, oreilys etc.Was thinking of using a GM switch same principle in function.Did find this one on ebay but not 100% sure NOS 84 85 86 MOPAR SPEED CONTROL SWITCH 4221975 DIPLOMAT CARAVAN LEBARON ~ 42219000075 | eBay.

The official part number for your stop lamp switch for your ’88 would be:
4221979 without cruise (comes without the metal bracket). This part was discontinued and superseded to part number (below).

4221980 with cruise control. This part was recently superseded. If you can find a dealer with one, the MSRP is $36.98 (US).

This is a Standard part number SLS-191 which is aftermarket for the above part number.

There is no problem using a “with Cruise” on a car without cruise. You will have an extra pigtail (or extra wires) that won’t be used.

The red (or pink) wire is always hot (even when car is turned off and keys are in pocket).
The white wire goes to brake lamps (even the 3rd brake lamp).
The metal bracket might be the hard part to locate if yours is missing.

This is from my ’86 FSM (Factory Service Manual). It should be the same (or very close if not the same).

Item 11 is the stop lamp switch bracket. Item 13 is the stop lamp switch.

I hope this helps.

Bud, are you a dealership service tech/manager or something? The info and diagrams you have access to are an amazing resource to us all. Thanks for all your help

Honestly, I don't know.
Chrysler has always been good about making one part fit many vehicles – so I can't imagine a different part number fitting correctly (but it might).
