Stock 318 cast piston, 6 PSI of boost, 150 shot of N2O, 7000+ RPMs , blown headgasket caused engine to hydrolock.
Combination of boost and 150 shot was almost predictable in its effects on a stock cast piston. It is doubtful that a 150 shot alone would be reliable with a stock piston. Adding that to an engine running 6 lbs of boost was a guaranteed engine blowup. The connecting rod didm't breal. it shattered probably from the hydro-lock.
Joeblo:
That couldn't be it, must be a plugged exhaust cat or exhaust. I'd put that back in there. Just rJB Weld those rings together, rivet them back onto the piston, and put it back in. Should be good to go.
Seriously, are there still replacemtn 2.5L pistons around?
