Imperial Shifter Problems

The indicator on the '83 is reading both P and R in Park and the backup lights are on. I know I patched the wiring correctly. Anything else this could be...indicator connector maybe?

Could it be that the shift linkage just needs adjusted?

The shift linkage has never been messed with. I'm wondering if it's the readout's fault...when the shifter is in Park, is when it's reading both. I don't know how the wiring fix would have screwed with it.

The back-up lights (and probably the dash display) are operated by a Neutral Safety Switch/Range Selector switch in the trans.
