Hi Guys,

I am leaning towards a Howard's cam

Screenshot_20180107-220045.png

Or should I look at this one, how much will the extra 50ci change the idle compare to a 360? They say lopey but will it be less in a 410?

And a set of eq mag heads with 2.02 valves fitted.

  • 1) STAINLESS STEEL IN. VALVE 2.02
  • 2) STAINLESS STEEL EX VALVE 1.62
  • 3) 62CC COMBUSTION CHAMBERS
  • 4) THESE HEADS COME WITH SEAT PRESSURE OF 120 LBS AT 1.660
  • 5) THESE HEADS HAVE HEAVY DUTY SPRINGS GOOD FOR .600 LIFT
  • 6) THESE HEADS WILL ACCEPT THE LATE STYLE INTAKE MANIFOLDS
  • 7) NO CORE INVOLVED **NO CORE CHARGE**
  • 8) VALVE MATERIAL: STAINLESS, 4% NICKEL CONTENT, CHROME STEM, HARDENED TIP, SWIRL POLISH

I have my AirGap intake, 770 Street avenger, 2200 - 2500 stall converter. Probably not going to get my 400hp but won't have to sell my ball sack to build it either.

But will eq heads with 2.02" valves flow enough to support a 6000rpm cam?

Here is stock flow with the 1.92" valve

EngineQuest | A&A Midwest

4speedjim reckons approx 10cfm more with the 2.02" valves, so let's say at. 550" lift we see 230cfm stock with 2.02 we could expect 240cfm and with blending 250cfm approx, are we going to be OK at 240/250 approx?

Thanks
Bruce

This is where I got my numbers. It will give you the flow #s with 2.02s only and mild port throat clean up. Theyre way down at the bottom of the page. My Favorite cams today are the Mama or Daddy Rattler and the Hughes Whiplash. Designed for a build like yours!

Magnums flow close to a W-2 head as a point of interest. I thought the W2s where going to be the only affordable head to deliver the air a stroker needs. But the Magnums do a great job. 230-240 will flow more that 400HP, Stock Mags will make 425- 450 hp stock on a 5.9. HP wont climb as fast as the Torque rises. With the 2.02s alone you gain @ 10 cfm per .100s lift. @ 20 with clean up per .100 lift.

Cool, Um yeah, Ok I see, I kinda can't see how it relates to a 408 build, but what ever input you think is applicable to this post appreciated.
Change the 408 plan
Gen 3 is a wayyyyy better set up than a 408 IMHO unless you also ran EFI.
Not getting 600/700 HP out of a 408.

So we are slowly nailing down a build, the Howards Cam .507 / .533, Duration @ .050: 221 / 225, Centerline: 108, EQ Heads with 2.02" valves, Airgap intake, 770cfm Street Avenger, MP stroker crank, KB416 pistons, the 2500rpm stall converter, headers. I am just not to sure on the bigger cam - Lift: .555 / .549, Duration @ .050: 229 / 233, Centerline: 106, I think it will get a bit radical. Its on the 106 center line as well. It may also over cam for the EQ heads?

>I don't see a rocker ratio listed with those cams. If they are at a design of 1.5 and you are at the factory 1.6, then you have to recalculate the lift.
>Did I miss the application? Is this for a streeter?
> If you are thinking of replacing a 360 with this stroker,Have you given some thought as to how your chassis is gonna handle the huge torque increase?

Hi AJ, I worked on 1.6 as that is what magnums are and they are magnum cams, yes for the Street Cordoba, No have not thought about chassis, do you think it will not handle the extra cubes?

My only concern is that the bushings and isoclamps in the rear suspension are junk.
