Anyone got the part# for the valve and grommet for a 1980 dodge mirada. This is the valve on top of the gas tank.

I have a Jeep valve and grommet on my car. It works, with slight modification. The Jeep tank has a deeper flange in the hole so the grommet and valve don't seal tight. I made a plastic spacer to go between the valve and grommet to make up the difference and used a 2 part epoxy also, to kind of glue it in place so it won't leak. Also need a rubber plug to plug off the extra port. The one I got had one big port, and one small one. Downside is, it's a one shot deal but when would a person ever need to remove it again anyways?

It'll take me a bit to find the paperwork that gives the year and model Jeep I used.
The right parts might be found now. I did mine a few yea ago and never located real parts.

For reference though (from '79 parts manual) the original parts are:
Grommet p/n 4002149
Rollover valve p/n 4002252

If you are replacing the gas tank you have the option to go back to the pre-'80 model year setup...where the rollover valve was in-line with the vapour line...that is what I did on my coupe to simplify the plumbing on the tank itself.

Did you modify the new tank? I already have the new tank on hand.

No, I did not modify anything. I specifically wanted the pre-'80 model year so that I could put the rollover valve in-line instead of into the tank.

Here are a few pics of what all the components looked like:

1) the tank, I went a little crazy prepping it, ultimately finishing with a truck bed-liner coating

2) this is the in-line rollover valve

My '79 was built June 23rd, 1979 so it has the valve in the top of the tank (the change came on April 2nd, 1979), same as a 1980 and up model.

I couldn't find my paper work anyplace for the Jeep p/n's but yes, the one's you pictured look like them.

Here is a part# follow-up:

1) gas tank is aftermarket part# CR1A
2) fuel sending unit is Mopar part# 4051176 (up to '79, no fuel return line)

...but I am missing the pre-'80 in-line rollover valve part#...grrh...

Meanwhile, the in-tank rollover valve is Mopar part# 4002252.

Arrived today, the grommet and rollover fit snug as a bug in the new tank.

Maybe that's the one I needed also (the '81-'86 CJ). The one I got was just loose enough that it would have leaked without the modifications. Then again, maybe it's my tank(?) It's a Spectra replacement tank and could be the hole isn't exactly correct. Too late to worry about it now!
