I have a 80 volare with power steering and a non tilt coulmn. Will a steering column from a mid 80s diplomat police car swap right into my volare?

Yes and no. If your car has column-mounted dimmer and wiper switches, the column should be a drop-in. However, if you want to use the same keys, you'll have to get the tilt cylinder re-coded as the non-tilt cylinder does not fit in a tilt column. The splines are different between steering wheels, so kiss your old wheel goodbye in the process.

80 was the only year that volare had column high beams. I wouldnt mind the different ignition key. The steering wheel i use im pretty sure came out of a car with tilt and it fit my column. This is the wheel i use.
