I’m not going to try it, but I “think” it is possible to outfly a police helicopter with a (filled up) supercar and on the interstate.
This is pending the copter has no working radio or cell phones onboard.

In an urban area, forgetabut it.

I caught that too.
How about the 'help' into the backseat when caught?
Or the cars overheating at the end.

I used to moonshine, so out running cops was routine back then.
At one time you could outrun a radio, but radios got more range.

I agree with Dr. Lebaron on this one. I keyed off the 'at one time'..
As for current day, moonshine is what plays across my veranda when we have a clear night..lol

My brain is spazzing....
Planet Terror : has 4 1/2 out of 5 stars. Movie, Drama, Horror.
A one-legged go-go dancer (Rose McGowan) and her ex-lover (Freddy Rodriguez) join forces with other survivors to battle a horde of flesh-eating zombies invading their Texas town.

Now that description above was off the direct tv screen.

Here's what imdb says:
After an experimental bio-weapon is released, turning thousands into zombie-like creatures, it's up to a rag-tag group of survivors to stop the infected and those behind its release.

A one-legged go-go dancer? from Texas? with zombies? Exactly how is this motivation/inticement for me to watch this movie?

And why in the world would my better half purposely start watching this? Someone needs to save me from this..lol

Its been over 8 minutes and no go-go dancer yet... I do believe I need to go do something (anything) but this. ....

Dr Lebaron, how old is that news clip?
Also, any chance you happen to know the driver of the vehicle in question?
1983 and I 'may' know.;)

On the out skirts, corn fields made good detours.
In town, the old coal lanes where handy.
Then blowing his radio off the air, not much help was coming.
All any heard was 'CQ-CQ, CQ DX,-CQ DX'-Unit 44 is QRT and standing by.

That sent out word, so say maybe a good time for a biker fight at a bar.
I now have become small potatos. :D

Need a jet helicopter to chase down a fast car.
I know a Bell Huey tops out at 135 mph, but will cruise 125mph.

There was a time out running the cops was a game.
The cop used to have 302HO Furd LTD II's.
It was at the time when they where close to the bumper when there was a concern.

Passed one sitting still or get some distance, then it was all good.

This sounds like a perfect time to go work on rebuilding a power antenna assembly.;)

I always get a kick out of the Dish Network description on screen too. It's like, who writes these things?
The Blues Brothers: "Two brothers bomb around Chicago in an old Dodge and sing the blues" Seriously?

Back in ’85 (or so), I used to live in far outskirts of Tulsa, OK. Out in front of my house was a 4-lane divided highway.

One afternoon I took off a bit faster than usual leaving the house (nothing crazy, not even tire smoke this time), set the cruise control and was driving the speed limit for a good 4 to 5 miles (maybe more), when a Tulsa police car came up behind me with lights a flashing, driving a Furd Granada. I pulled over thinking he would cruise right on by, but no, he pulled over and wrote me a ticket (for excessive acceleration). I said wait a moment, I had been driving with cruise control on for some time and I know I wasn’t speeding.

He replied that it was all his 6-cyl 1-bbl car could do to catch up with me and he was about to give up (and it took 4-5 miles to do that, even).
With the 340 I had in the car at the time, I could have easily been a tiny disappearing taillight, if I had wanted to – but I guess I never saw the guy to begin with (out of sight, of mind?).

I've always wondered what they consider "excessive acceleration". I mean, if you don't squeal, smoke, slip or otherwise spin the tires, what difference does it make if you do 0-60 in 20 seconds or in 5 seconds???

Here it's called 'stunt driving', and you lose your car for 7 days, no license for 48hrs.....on and on.
Or 30mph over the speed limit, same deal.
Takes the fun out of having a fast street car.
That's why I'm happy with the super six Lebaron w/ air.
That was all because the ricers and F&F movies, GTA.

Now I will be the first guy to out run the new police patrol drones in 2064.
Their electro magnetic harpoons can't get through the steel and satellites can't shut the car down.

While I was there, I sent a message back using a future way back machine.
A story from the Toronto Sun.

A Toronto man has become the first Canadian in nearly 20 years to be charged with reckless driving, after a police drone spotted him manually controlling his own vehicle on Highway 401.

According to the GTA PD, 23-year-old James Lauda hacked the autopilot and drove for nearly seven kilometres, with his hands on the drive stick.

Police were alerted to Lauda after numerous witnesses reported seeing a vehicle travelling erratically on the highway Thursday evening. The aerial drone was dispatched and disabled the vehicle with an electromagnetic pulse.

“It was quite a shock,” said Nikki Sanders, who spotted Lauda near the GTA Hover Port. “He was speeding up and slowing down, and changing lanes at random. It’s a miracle no one was hurt.”

After being taken into custody, surveillance footage of Lauda’s reckless joyride was uploaded to the federal system’s traffic court division. A justice algorithm took nine milliseconds to find him guilty on two counts of vehicular tampering and one count of reckless driving. Const. Jim Ellesmere of the GTA PD checked with Central Control and said he’s certain Lauda is the first Canadian to be charged with driving since the federal government mandated all cars be automated in 2036.

So like the Amish and their buggies, in the future there are the 'AutoLites' who live with manually controlled, gas vehicles.

But gas is hard to come by and at $21.50 a gallon, converting old muscle cars to electric is a big thing.

I would like to see someone disable my ’97 Dodge diesel 5 speed manual pickup with an EMP.
One of the reasons I got it was it will burn darn near anything oil based (except for gasoline). It has a computer - but all it does is run the alternator and tachometer (if an automatic transmission, it would control parts of it, as well). With two batteries, it will run for a long time without an alternator, as long as I don’t need to restart it.

A piece of wire or string and a push start (roll down a hill), it doesn’t even need a battery!

Good luck push starting a diesel.
Park on a hill and use the clutch (and 5th gear) after some momentum has built up.
Push starting might not be the correct term.

I have had my truck pull started before, when a starter went out.

Now for the person using an automatic transmission - good luck.

We used to 'late night' 'borrow' manual cars by push starting.
We put gas in before we returned it.
The old Mopar guys tell me you can push start a old push button Mopar.

All the cars in the future are self driving, so there is less need for distance between vehicles.

I caused a major collision in the future when I came out of hyperdrive only to have a car 1 foot ahead of my bumper.
There's nothing there right now, so I thought I'd be OK, but in the future it's Hwy 412.
Read about it in July 12 2065.
Big story about a maniac driving a antique manually controlled car.
