Swapping from Lean Burn to the Mopar Electronic Ignition....

Simplest way to swap it is go to a salvage yard, get the engine harness off a model with the 5 pin ignition box. Get the vacuum advance distributor as well. Get a new ignition box, and a new resistor for the firewall. Everything should plug in. Just unplug the lean burn engine harness, and plug...

    100amp alternator

The main problem with the Chrysler alternator was the belt being too loose. You have to use a crowbar to tighten the belt with. Plus make sure to use the Mopar voltage regulator. All other brands are worthless. Learned all this from 8 years of keeping a Mirada alive

Teach me about dogdish hubcaps... word c

I just cleaned mine up with Scotch brite pads, and sandpaper. Primer helps. I think they make silver metallic epoxy paint. If not, maybe silver Plasti-Kote. Should stand up for awhile.

That is what mine cost when I bought them. Plus a couple cans of silver metallic paint.

Why not go with poor man's rally's .Get some cop car slot wheels. Probably no more than $25 a piece. Then get twenty chrome lug nuts, and four chrome trim rings from Pepboys, etc. I did this on one of my Miradas untill I get one with the ten sppoke factory mags.

    80 Mirada 318 tweaks

Yep! That means 16's in the quarter. But that was with the 2.49 rear. Never ran it after I got the Sure Grip

    80 Mirada 318 tweaks

I spent about two whole days porting them out. But I didn't have carbide bits. Just what I could find at Tractor Supply. They are good flowing heads when you open them up. Plus I put the headers and 3 inch pipes.

    80 Mirada 318 tweaks

I had an '81 Mirada that came with 318/ 2bbl, and 2.76 rear. The spider gears went bad, and I replaced the axle with a 2.49 from a parts Cordoba. That was worse, so I finally found a 2.94 Sure Grip from a cop car, and bolted it in. I took an 1985 318 roller cam 2 bbl engine, and reworked it...

    Ball joint recommendations

I put 4 sets of lowers, and 3 sets of uppers, in my Mirada in 8 years. Go for the Moogs. I finally did. You want to take the lowers and stick them in the freezer overnight. Then they will practically drop in. The uppers I couldn't find a socket for, so I used a pipe wrench. It works for putting...

    J body wiper repair

I came up with a simpler fix than this. Mine screwed up years ago on my '81 Miranda. I went to junkyard, and bought the complete wiper trans assembly off a '88 Fifth Ave. Be sure to unbolt the arm from motor. This eliminated the wacky bushing with ball bearings. I measured the distance between...

    cheap header thoughts?

Better off to leave the back manifold studs in place. They go into a water jacket on the head. If you use bolts, use pipe dope on the back ones.

    Mercury wheels

Just an addendum. I had an 81 Miranda, and tried to put the 80's-90's 10 spoke Jeep wheels on there. They bolt on, but have too much backspace They caught on the A-arms, and the car wouldn't even move.
