Hows it going guys trying to build My daily driver that looks like a hod rod out of my fifth avenue. Can anyone help me find out what set of american racing tourqthrust will fit my 1988 fifth avenue if there are any at all that will fit or a set of rims that look similar? I know there is a fella that has info and pic below
  • Tires are 255/50R17 BFGoodrich KDWS's, wheels are '01-04 mustang bullits but other than that idk what size or offset or anything any insight would be much appreciated I wouldn't mind these rims right here if anyone can track em down that would mock right up no problems

That's Patrick's old car and was a heavy influence on my build. Coincidentally we're both in Michigan as well.

I'm out right now and will post specifics tonight. Rims on my care are VN515. What size are you looking to go?

heck ya good ol Michigan boyz since you both have builds heres what I am looking to do to start I would like to get a set of nice wheels and tires I have 215 /70r15 on there now and if I could get away with going a little wider in the back without it being an issue having to modify would be great. I plan on lifting the ass up just a bit to give it that hotrod rake look putting disks on the back if I dont get another rear end first. doing a mild cam and heads with a dual exhausts and possibly a shift kit in the trans if not upgraded to better trans at some point b@m shifter gt grant steering wheel electric fuel pump and a carb paint job and calling it a day since I still want this to be my summer driver and be decent on gas pfffhahahah what a laugh that was to say im looking to do the looks of mine similar to the pic below just without the rims hes got lol definitely need some tourq thrust or something that is damn close so probably some 16s maybe stick with 15s if I can find em with the right bolt pattern and offset and all that that will work id be ok with either I think

The rears will occasional rub a tiny amount in the top of the doghouse. I tried finding a photo, but no idea where it is. The fronts will rub the torsion bar and k frame at full lock if you go any bigger.

Now the ride quality will go to absolute pot if you do this without upgrading other areas and spending a chunk of change on shocks. I have stiffer springs on the car (5 leaf rears and 300# Firm Feel bars in the front). To get the ride quality back shocks I put double adjustable Viking shocks on all four corners. Honestly it rides better than factory, but those shocks are a grand for all four.

I wouldn't go larger than 17" and maybe square it off with 245 tires on all four corners.

Whereabouts in Michigan are you?

I've seen your ride in google pics a few times rides sweet thats for sure. Honestly if I need to do all that Id like to just find a set I can just throw on without doing too much of anything its more of a daily that Im gonna make look a bit better lol so mayb Im from around the southhaven area. what would you suggest if im trying to not do a whole lot to the suspension to still get a nice set all the way round might as well keep em all the same

Go with a 15x7 wheel and use 235-60-15 tires on all four corners. 255 *might* fit upfront, but it'll require measuring. This way you can rotate the tires. BFG Radials with raised white lettering.

You're on the opposite side of the state from me. I'm north of Detroit.

If I can interject an opinion, one of the best things I've done is replace the BFG's with Mickey Thompson Sportsman S/T. Made a huge difference in ride, handling and traction. Like a whole different car. Your results and opinion may vary :)

My experience is a bit dated in what's available in 15", but this is the style that I was thinking of. I would take Aspen500's advice on the tire.

Crager S/S is always a classic look too. I had these rims on the 5A before the 18" Torque Thrusts.

4.0" for 7" rims and 4.5" for 8" rims.....I think! Don't quote me on this. It's been a long time. Someone on here should be able to chime in and confirm.
