my volare runs good just needs maybe a diff belt and a general inspection but sounds and runs good, main issue is brakelines, i have bought new brakelines for it and im currently confused on brake flex hoses, ive seen a lot saying it has 2 front, 2 rear, and a center flex hose, then other sources say just 4, i know it has 2 in the front that i ordered, i ordered a center one but it is identical to the front one so idk if there is a center, and the 2 rear ones i assume they are the exact same im not sure i cant find much about it and im kinda in need of help, how many flex hoses do i need in total 4? or 5? (im not replacing them just not confident in not breaking them when trying to take off the old brakeline), and if i do need another 2-3 im not sure if the rear are the same as the front flex hoses, this is the first car ive ever worked on myself so im kinda lost on the small things, any help is appreciated

Your Volare has three brake flex hoses total:

- Left front hose from the steel line to the caliper, example Raybestos # BH36830
- Right front hose from the steel line to the caliper, example Raybestos # BH36831
- Rear center hose with tee from the chassis steel line to the two steel lines on the rear axle that connect to the wheel cylinders, example Raybestos # BH36962.

ok that helps a little bit atleast i know they are different ones- i bought front left and center on parts geek and they were literally identical so that confuses me a little and there are also 2 flex hoses in the back i just looked at and saw, it goes to brake lines in the same kind of clip that is in the front (in the image) just along the bottom of the car instead of standing up behind wheel, and hose looked the same as the front just maybe longer im not sure i didnt get a good look at it
so now i know theres like 4, not sure if theres any differences in each one, or if theres a center one or not

You have 2 brake hoses in the rear!? Sounds like something custom somebody did.

The rear axle should be 1 brake hose to a brass fitting that goes to two metal lines.

If you have 4 brake hoses you need to provide more pics. That sounds like something completely different from a normal setup. We're not mind readers..

My guesses are you have some hack job brake system or someone added a different brake system. Without pics we're not going to know.

Sounds like you are seeing the parking brake cables. Without photos, so going by your description. The rear hose goes from the brake line vertically to the rear axle, and is attached to the axle tube with a hollow bolt, which is also the axle vent.

The original front rubber brake flex hoses are different side to side, but are mirror images of each other. The original system uses one single rear rubber brake flex house as described. There are also two metal sheathed parking brake cables that connect into the lower section of the brake backing plates. If there is something else on your car, things have been modified from the original setup.

Following is the hydraulic brake line/hose routing and layout from the factory service manual:

NOTE: metal sheathed parking brake cables not shown in this diagram.

If you don't have a factory service manual, you should get one.

Note that the 1979 factory print service manual includes two volumes: Chassis/Body and Electrical.
