I appreciate the diagrams, I actually have those. I have not returned to working on the car, due to the heat. Cooler temps are here now, and I have received another turn signal switch. I have checked connectors along the harness and have not seen anything that would cause the short. I have checked the smaller harness that connects the turn signal switch to the main harness, and no issues with it. Back to it today removing the steering column and will check things before I put it all back together this time. Puzzled part, lights work, right turn signal works. No left turn signal or brake lights. I did completely disconnect the after market third brake light that was installed aftermarket, just in case the little brain box on it was the issue. Yea, it wasn't working either.

thank you everyone for help. I have checked wiring all I can. Received another turn signal switch, and before tearing into everything again, hooked up, worked fine. Disassembled to change switch out, completed, and checked. Still working. Put everything back in place, harness wise, once again, either no brake lights, or they are on and not going off. I think I have narrowed down to the smaller harness between turn signal switch connection and harness that connects to main harness. It is a small harness, but unable to locate part number on this, or locate in parts book. If anyone is parting out a fifth ave, or diplomat, reach out. Any other suggestions? (make my own, cut splice new wires). Trying to locate a correct connector and pins/plugs to make a new one. Yes, the tape around the wire is where things shorted out and melted two wires together.
