Let’s get it right this time. (‘87 Dip project)

Well, that confidence never happened. I couldn’t bring myself to start cutting into the car. Sold the car last night. I’m done with the F/J/M-body platform. I’ll figure things out later on, probably after I get therapy or something. It’s been fun guys.

Engine/Body harness plug on the firewall

This is a delayed response, but I wanted to say thanks! I couldn't for the life of me remember that screw was there. On the plus side, I have an interior harness that's 99% intact. (save for the dome light wiring)

Engine/Body harness plug on the firewall

Is there an extra clip on the main harness plug at the firewall? I’m having a bit of trouble pulling them apart.

    WANTED FMJ Complete Front Suspension

If you don’t mind driving down to Augusta, GA I’ll have mine dropped off the nose of the car next month.

Got the connectors trimmed to their initial lengths. Since I have Wednesdays off, plus Turkey Day this Thursday, and Sat/Sun, I’m pretty confident I’ll have the connectors installed by this time next week. Also….steering column is now out, as well as the Automatic Brake Pedal assembly. Power...

Let’s get it right this time. (‘87 Dip project)

Rear Suspension parts arrived. (Haven’t ordered shocks yet. Or swaybar) And, started welding practice with Fluxcore. It didn’t turn out too bad. If it’s clear/dry in the morning I’m going to give the 6011 rods that I bought awhile ago a try. I’ve got some welding coupons on the way, and...

Well, time for a couple updates. Upper Control Arms for the SC300 subframe showed up. They only cost me $45.

Looks to be vacuum-operated. I think so. it's a monster compared to what's going to replace it.

HVAC Unit removal help? (‘87 w/AC)

It’s a monster compared to the unit that is going in to replace it.

HVAC Unit removal help? (‘87 w/AC)

It’s finally out. There’s 5 screws in the engine bay holding it on.

That & the fans. It was stuck on Defrost. Once I pull it off I’ll check it over.

That’s the little tiny black box in the engine bay?

The HVAC stopped working and I’m redoing the harness. Wanted to replace the sound deadening too.

HVAC Unit removal help? (‘87 w/AC)

I’m in the process of going over my car and I’ve hit a snag on trying to remove the HVAC unit from the dash. I’ve removed the bolts that I can see, but my FSM doesn’t show where the rest of the bolts are at. Any pointers? (I’ve tried the search feature already, but I didn’t find what I was...

The dash is mostly done, but I’ve hit a snag: the HVAC unit. I really wish it could’ve all came out at one time like when they put these things together at the factory.

Well, didn’t get to the dash.

Progress! ....I forgot how heavy and how much of a PITA the front seat is to take out of these. The shifter boot is from a K-car Daytona. :p Back seat, Carpet, and the rest of the dash comes out tomorrow.

A new (DIY) Subframe Connector thread.

I don’t plan on putting them through the floor that much. About what Aspen’s described is as much as I wanna do. I’d like to make the bottom of the connectors match the factory frame rails. Speedwise: it’s not the 1/4 mile times that I’m after. To be honest *shrugs* as fast as it’ll go until I...

A new (DIY) Subframe Connector thread.

True, but this car will be seeing the track as well. And right after I had made the thread I stumbled back upon your’s and looked over the photos more closely.

A new (DIY) Subframe Connector thread.

Since the last thread on the connectors is over 4+ years old now, I figured I’d start a new one since I think I have a different idea than the original thread. I got some 2x2 square tubing from the metal supplier, and I’m thinking of extending my connectors to where I have my prybar pointing...

I think I'm going to check on bottle prices as well. This is taking longer than expected (I tend to be a bit lazy at times.)

I’ve got two: a YesWelder 135 that I have set up for Fluxcore, and a PrimeWeld CT520D that I haven’t used yet. Now that I’ve got something with a 220v outlet I’m going to practice with it for a bit.
