    318 Aspen with magnum heads.

I believe Jeep was on the other side, IIRC. I snagged mine from a Dakota in a wrecking yard here..but I understand that's not quite as easy based on where your location shows. I would think though if Jeep starters work for Rams, then they should work for an LA block. Mine bolted up the same, I...

    318 Aspen with magnum heads.

I put magnum heads on my 318, with a summit 6900 cam, headers, Summit (Holley) 600 cfm carb and it was night and day difference. Down the line I also swapped in 3.55s and a sure grip into my 8.25, and it also needed a bit more converter, but it was rowdy compared to the stock AHB I started with...

HVAC Unit removal help? (‘87 w/AC)

Yeah, that's it. I had quite a few names for it at the time, but couldn't remember the actual name.

HVAC Unit removal help? (‘87 w/AC)

Going off of memory, there are a couple Allen screws holding a piece for the AC onto the firewall. I had all the bolts for the box off but couldn't figure that little AC piece out until I got angry and used the hammer/bar the beat it to death..then I saw the bolt head..haha

la318 roller cam and magnum heads help

I was out in the garage and remembered I had a couple spare pushrods in a bucket from when I did this swap..so I snapped a picture of one that has the sizing. I also went back through some archives and found the links I was given. Summit Racing SUM-1457650 Summit Racing™ Chromoly Pushrods |...

la318 roller cam and magnum heads help

As one who put magnum heads on a 318..its is not a waste of time. Sure, a 5.9 would be better, but A. Hes already got the 318 heads. B. There's more to swap over if you swap to a 5.9. C. (Prefaced..I dont like bench racing) the combo I had was stupid cheap, and took an 18 second car down to...

If it were going to be a sleeper, I'd paint it whatever the color the engine was for the year of the car.

    Imperial on VGG

Just finished watching the new episode of Vice Grip Garage. As someone who had been in the F/M/J arena for 15 years prior to selling my Diplomat and pulling my next project out of a barn..I was extra intrigued. It's a long watch, but a good one. Hopefully there'll be more to come-not just for...

    Farleys Page

Yeah, I remember the shock when it sold to Allpar (and the subsequent upset feelings when they added a simple subsection to keep up with current stuff). At that point I felt it took a pretty decent hit, but then when Allpar sold..I agree, it became trash. It's unfortunate too, because the...

    Farleys Page

I know some of you on here used to frequent Farley's page (dippy.org), but I logged on earlier and noticed that there hasn't been a new post since May. I can't imagine at that rate how much longer it'd stay afloat, so I'd suggest pulling as much info before it gets lost. Sad to say as when I...

anyone here ever been pulled over for "No seatbelt" before?

Haha..sounds similar to my dealing. I got pulled over driving my AHB and asked to step out of the vehicle because a car matching the description of mine had just driven off without paying for fuel, and it was called in right as I drove by a sheriff car. I looked at the officer and calmly stated...

    Pinion angle?

From the sounds of it after it came back from the trans shop..the ujoint caps were the cause all along. Didn't get around to updating this as it was probably back for two weeks then was sold..but to make a long story short, when we grabbed a new Ujoint to replace the caps that fell out, the...

    Its been a ride

Never did update this after it got back, but holy cow it came back better than ever. Even with lifter tick, not being warmed up, and needing brakes bled, it ran so freaking well. ...that being said, Pops got a knock on the door this morning and it now has a new owner. Kinda bummed after 13...

    Its been a ride

I think I'm gonna need to change the title to this thread..ha! Car will be done from the trans shop either today or tomorrow. In addition to the rebuild/new converter/shift kit, he also found and addressed the cause for the shake it'd had since the rear end swap. It appears we were sold a...

    Magnum Heads onto LA block

My old 86 AHB. It sounds like Pops has gotten a renewed interest as of late though. It's scheduled to go in this week for a transmission rebuild/new converter, we just ordered new lifters/pushrods/cam since a bunch of lifters have collapsed from it sitting so long, and I've got an interior...

    Magnum Heads onto LA block

I've got better springs and had wanted to try them, but we just ordered the same cam for my old 318 to be safe. Down the road I'd love to build a 360 mag so I'm not quite ready to come off the springs yet.. but then again after the headaches with the rebuild on the Olds, I may just find a JY 5.7...

    Pinion angle?

Evidently I never updated this. I ended up swapping the 6° out with a 4° shim one day in 2021 after Dad said the problem was still there, if not worse. He said the 4° helped it a ton, but it still wasn't 100%. I got to thinking though, and I'm not sure the trans mount has ever been replaced...

    1969 Olds 442

A lot has happened since the last update... Took it to work a couple times to continue finding faults. Pretty well had things nailed down regarding what still needs addressed: something sounding like it's rolling around in the drums, PS front shock not hooked up, and addressing the tuning of...

    Its been a ride

Small update.. Ordered a new cam & lifter kit over the weekend, as well as new pushrods and intake gasket. Cam wasn't needed, but seeing as it has a couple collapsed lifters from sitting and we'd need to redo the break in, figured we'd play it safe and go new cam as well. Just went with the...

    Magnum Heads onto LA block

I believe anything over .525 lift requires a change. You just need to watch though, as the SBM cams are rated for 1.5 rockers and the magnums run 1.6..so you'll need to math out before committing
