    Magnum swap info.

I think so too. I have fun with my current slant six which is probably making less than 100hp, maybe less than 80? I've thought that when I'm ready I might buy a cheap 318 magnum running and install that, then get a 360 core and have fun building it to make more. I think they use the same...

    Magnum swap info.

I'll probably use Schumacher mounts. I haven't done this before but many people have. The Schumacher mounts are available again, they were not available for a couple years. I think a different company bought the tools and name and is now selling off the old Schumacher site but don't quote me...

    Magnum swap info.

I see the prices going up on slant 6s too. Older, rougher looking slant sixes are costing more than newer, nicer looking Magnum 5.2s and some 5.9s in my neighborhood (MN). All of these /6 engines seem to sit though, maybe everybody is asking too much? Maybe they are dreaming. The idea is that...

    Magnum swap info.

Today 1/6/25, in MN, I saw a 5.9 Magnum used short block in Wyoming MN $125 and a complete (Minus intake) running when pulled, 5.2 Magnum supposedly 130,000, looks nice, for $100 in Amery WI on the Facebook Marketplace. I haven't seen a slant six for under $250 in my neighborhood for a year or two.

I second Espo N Springs. 1/27/24 I just ordered my springs. Laura helped me figure it out via 101 emails. 1980 Aspen Sedan, I'm getting the F Body springs with B Body centering pins/bolts. I am going the B Body shock plate route. 5 leaf replacements $360, 1" lift $370, 2" lift $380. Shipping to...

B Body 8 3/4 Axle, splines ok? Pictured

Yeah, I'm not crying. I think 1500 is pretty good over all too. I'm sure I'll be smiling too. I got the isolator rubber pad rot and saggy original leaf springs going on right now, my rear end floats all over. Can't wait to have it all tightened up next spring. Thanks for the comment.

B Body 8 3/4 Axle, splines ok? Pictured

Well, I got busy. Think I got fleeced for a few hundred dollars on the axle housing when I purchased it for $350, but I'm learning. Not all lessons are free. This was my first time out, it won't happen again. I did use the housing. I did use the 742 case. This is a 65-67 B Body 8.75 Housing (all...

B Body 8 3/4 Axle, splines ok? Pictured

I was clueless as to what caused that spline damage. Many people on here, as posted above, weren't able to help either. I'm gladd Cass at Dr Diff was able to set me straight. Saved me some time and frustration. Everything was priced right. I had someone ready to buy the axle and the car it was...

B Body 8 3/4 Axle, splines ok? Pictured

I've decided the axles are useless. Probably scrap metal. I might try to sell them for $20, maybe someone else could use them? Cass at Dr Diff is excellent, like all you guys say. Cass looked at the pictures I sent him, told me how my axle got damaged, told me what specific axle housing I had...

B Body 8 3/4 Axle, splines ok? Pictured

I've decided I'm going to build this 8.75 axle housing. I contacted Dr Diff via email and sent a picture of this axle end. They were kind enough to give me this reply. "The splines at the end of the axle were stripped off by an early sure-grip with 2 piece side gears." I'm going to buy new...

    SOLD 1980 Dodge Aspen

Just trying to close this thread. I didn't sell the car but I marked this thread as sold. I had this cross posted and had a pretty good offer yesterday that was a coupe hundred short of my bottom dollar. Made me realize I didn't want to sell the car. I'm keeping it.

B Body 8 3/4 Axle, splines ok? Pictured

I think it looks intentionally altered too. I don't know. My intent is to just get the axle housing I'm going to use so that I can get my springs, U bolts, shock plates shocks and freshen my original 1980 F body rear while also removing/converting the surface rust on the underside of my car...

B Body 8 3/4 Axle, splines ok? Pictured

Hello, I hope this is the right place to ask. I don't really "know" anything about any auto or truck axles besides what I could learn from reading online. I bought a 66-68 B Body 8 3/4 with green bearings (good), axles, 741 open rear diff for $350 So one axle has full splines all the way to...

    New Aspen Leaf Springs

Thanks for the link to the springs. I am getting ready to start updating the rear end on my 1980 Aspen Sedan. Mine lists left as well. That doesn't bother me as much as feeling like the car is disconnected from the springs every time I take a turn. New springs and Shocks, for sure. I'm glad to...

    Power steering delete

My car is right around 3200-3300 pounds, I'm pretty sure. I had a 1947 Ford F2 with a manual double clutch transmission and obviously manual steering. It was a reliable runner with the original flathead V8. Had an 8 foot bed. I had that truck for a couple years, spent one summer using it to go...

    Power steering delete

Good to know. Why? I wouldn't mind having less stuff bolted onto my little engine and less stuff in the engine compartment, i.e. the power steering pump. Also, maybe more importantly, the power steering on this 1980 aspen is extremely soft, like all stock Dodge Aspens, I know about the firm...

Yeah, my understanding is that TransDapt conversion kits stop at the F Bodies, which is unfortunate. MoTech acquired Schumacher. MoTech has told me they'll have the Schumacher conversion mounts ready for sale by early 2022. Like maybe even in January. So they are coming back available, hopefully

FOR SALE ISO: Schumacher s6 to 340/360 mounts for F Body

Hey BudW, Once I get my mounts ordered I'll be sure to get on here and make the thread. I actually have a used high mile slant six that I recently repainted and am planning on swapping into my car pretty soon. My original plan was to do the V8 conversion in 3-4 years, I was only going to swap...

    Power steering delete

If I want to get rid of my power steering bin my 1980 Dodge Aspen, can I just buy a manual steering box? Will it bolt right in in place of the power steering box? Or do I need other pieces? Thanks.
