So now…what is the best method to remove the speedometer cable? It is not the old style with a hex fitting on the end. It’s it clipped or push in? I see that the speedo gear housing still has a retaining bolt…but what removes the cable? Thanks

I spoke with Dan at Brewers this AM. He was not hopeful that gear would be in stock anytime soon. I am hoping to find the original Chrysler part number to see if I can locate one. I was avoiding having to convert it.

    Wiper Linkage Bushing Replacment

Got it all back together and working. Didn’t realize at first that I needed to remove the wiper pivots. Once I did that it was straight forward. Used the Dorman bushings as they were available at my local AutoZone. Was able to use the vice to press some, and a squeeze clamp for others. All...

    Windshield wipers not working

I just posted about rebuilding the wiper bushings on my 85 Diplomat. A job that is still in progress. The 85 Diplomat has a standard bushing (Dorman) on the motor arm—it could be that bushing is specific to the J body cars..? Maybe try to find the arms from an M body and see if they are the...

Best Carb combo for stock 85 318

Update: Moved the throttle arm into the lower most position on the carburetor. Gave it some more timing, but to be honest, I don’t exactly know how much. The dampener on my engine only shows 10°. And I just have a very basic timing light. I moved it just a little bit past 10 I would guess but...

    Y Pipe Interchange and Options

Update: Got an F-body Y pipe from a 78 Volare 318–not sure if it was a 2 or 4 door. An F-body Y-pipe is NOT the same as an M-body y-pipe. Close, but no cigar. The shop was able to modify it to work. It needed to be lengthened on the passenger side. Also had them install an O2 bung so I...

Hello Looking for some options to get rid of the dreaded two-cat Y-pipe on the 85 Diplomat. The cats are badly deteriorated and must go. Previous owner tried to JB weld them back together. Sadly, searching for the Canadian y pipe yielded no stock. I suppose those have been gone for some...
