    Wrong part number on carb

I took it apart and was leary of the little springs, tiny allen head bolts, and check balls to really get into the nitty gritty of it. I did notice that the floats only had about 1/8" travel, so I tried to get it as close to the specified 1/4" from the rim. I've decided that I'm NOT running...

    Wrong part number on carb

On the passenger side float bowl, it says- "Mfg by Carter Carburetors, St. Louis, MI #2681 The drivers side of the carb on the flat space above float bowl- 9 6-2373 I just looked at Mike's Carburetors on the "how to ID the correct rebuild kit for your Carter carburetor". It...

    Wrong part number on carb

    It's a Tomco rebuild from O'Reilly's.

    Wrong part number on carb

That's my carb in the picture. Looking a bit closer, it does look like it was stamped. Mike's Carb said that 2681 is the model number for BB carb, so I don't really know. No tags at all on the carb anywhere.

    Wrong part number on carb

I'm trying to go through Mike's Carburetors to purchase a rebuild kit. Told them I needed one for a Carter BBD. They asked me what the part number on the carb was, so I sent them a pic of the passenger side fuel bowl. He says "That's not a BBD. The part number says it's a BB". I'm sure a lot of...

    Fuel sending unit

Got the new tank leaned up against the garage wall as we speak. I'll go ahead and throw it at the tank when it gets here. Hopefully it won't end up being a winter project. Going to blow out the old fuel lines and pitch a new filter at it while I'm at it.

I just ordered the grommet. Better safe than sorry. Thank you!

    Fuel sending unit

I just "checked" the tank grommet and all around the filler neck, it's still flexible and *squishy*. That's another part I would play hell finding. By the way- what does AHB stand for?

    Fuel sending unit

Yes it do. Witness my flawless ability to not have chance in hell of finding a damn thing that I need/ want for my ride! What I'll have to do is try to clean up and test the old one when I get it removed. May not even have to have a new one.

    Fuel sending unit

The only one I can find that "fits my vehicle" is on Ebay for $200, and it's not even the right one. I need one with the supply and return line. Dorman doesn't carry them and Spectra doesn't carry them. Although, I really need to check the original one that's in the tank right now and decide...

    Fuel sending unit

I have a new tank and straps, so I was hoping to install a new sending unit as well. The company that has them is Jim's Auto Parts . They seem to be a Mopar only restoration shop. Maybe someone else on the boards can find something useful.

    Fuel sending unit

Okay. I didn't know. I have heard something about before or after April 1979. Not sure if it's a change in the configuration or maybe change from top mount to side mount. I have found sending units for 1977-80 Volare and Aspen. Here's hoping that they are interchangable.

    Fuel sending unit

I've searched it more times than I can count, hoping that a company or somebody would all the sudden have one in stock. So, it doesn't have to be for a certain make, model, or shape, just as long as it fits and strains the fuel?

    Fuel sending unit

All the searches end up with mechanical and electric fuel pumps, locking rings, and so on and so forth. Everything I already have or not looking for in the first place. Seeing that I"ll probably never find one in this lifetime, I'm going to disconnect both ends of the fuel line (return and...

    Fuel sending unit

I have looked everywhere trying to find a new fuel sending unit and I can't find one! Don't really want to trust Ebay on this. Where can I get my grubby hands on one? From what Chrysler product can I order for that will bolt in and work the way it's supposed to? I can find tanks and straps...

All electronics are properly grounded. I tested with my multimeter by running continuity checks, one probe to the component casing and the other probe to another proven ground at different areas under the hood. If I hear a beep, it's properly grounded. When it stalled yesterday, there was no...

I wrapped the fuel line with DE heat sheath this morning. I'm hoping that the shit ethanol fuel will either blend in or get treated with the Lucas ethanol additive. This is the second carburetor I've out in this thing. First was one I bought from AutoZone was a reman with a year warranty which...

I went into town today and got almost home and the thing quit on me again. I looked down into the throat of the carb and there was no fuel from the jets as I worked the throttle. I took a small hammer from my Harbor Freight tool set and rapped on the carb a few times right around the fuel bowl...

I ran about 5 -10 lbs of air pressure through the return line from the filter and there was a second of nothing and then a sudden blurb and then I could hear it blowing through the fuel tank. Didn't really do anything as the car is still hesitating some, but now the return line isn't clogged...

Like I said, it feels like I take it out of gear. The motion of the vehicle itself, not the sounds of the engine. No revs or anything. I wish I could take my camera and take a video of it happening so people would know what I'm getting at. I did say camera. My wife and I are ones of the very...
