    Heat won't shut off

...look like the valve is good, but not sure if there actually is vacuum there. I haven't had much time to work on it, but I did see that the blend door is on the other side of the control unit, and I am going to try to wire it closed to see if that will do the trick If it does, then I am going...

justanswer.com/chrysler/7aoz7-1985-chrysler-fifth-avenue-cold-hot-control.html If you scroll down, you'll see what they are calling the blend door motor but I don't recognize it. It's been years since I looked at mine and maybe I don't have a good memory of it. It does show a means to test to...

    Heat won't shut off

Wow, thanks for the diagram. Nope, I didn't have the blend door connected to the coat hanger. I will take a look at the location above number 2, and let you know how I make out. Thanks again!

    Heat won't shut off

yep, it's tucked down in there but it looks like it was just barely designed to be accessed down in there. Check the electrical connector first, they can get loose I have heard

    Heat won't shut off

I just saw your previous post, and yeah, maybe that wasn't the blend door I connected to. So the servo is inside the car, and I should be able to see it on the left after I remove the glove box?

    Heat won't shut off

...is in Max Cool. So if your interior is warm, that will only keep the cooler outside air from coming in if it's open to the interior. The blend door problem is over on the other side of the heater box near the center of the firewall. It's a servo motor that sits ontop of the housing. Remove...

    Heat won't shut off

...in WI, you'll soon need the heat. I have an idea that if you remove the electric servo motor from the top of the heater housing, the blend door will rest in a default position of supplying heat. Instead of replacing the servo if you can find one, and if you don't want to mount a cable unit...

    Heat won't shut off

I am sending a few pics showing that I closed the valve on the heater core hose, and that I do have a clothes hanger hooked up to open and close the door. Like I say, even with the door closed, the heat comes through. Thanks for hanging in there with me on this.

    Heat won't shut off

...in the heat coming out the vent? You've checked to see the the prior owner already installed a manual line/switch/lever to control the blend door? I ask because we did that with an old truck and when mom drove it going to town for sandwiches, she came back sweating and cursing the heat in...

    Heat won't shut off

I did remove the glove box and found the blend door. I wired it closed to make sure that took care of the problem, but the heat is still coming through. Could there be another door that is in that area, and I closed the wrong one? I also closed the valve in the hose to the heater core and that...

I will be back in town next weekend and will try to access the blend door then, and I appreciate the closing ideas for opening and closing it. Tom

Read thru these very helpful messages regarding "blend door". Search results for query: blend door Your 1982 Cordoba is equipped with the "semi-automatic air conditioning" system. Really, the only thing automatic about these is that the blend door has an electric motor which opens or closes...

    Heat won't shut off

If it's not the controls or the vacuum lines going to the controls it could be a stuck blend door causing it. On 5th avenues it's electric. I don't know if it is or not on the other cars. Even with the valve under the hood open the heater box should still stop the heat. The valve is usually out...

Sorry in advance. Parts quality rant

...parts that ALMOST fit, etc. You shouldn't need to modify s part so it can be put on. Those are all reasons I waited 3 months for a Ford blend door actuator for my Mustang. Could have had a Dorman one right away but, I don't want to do the job again a month later. Ford one made in USA, Dorman...

I have heat! Removed the dash cover, glove box and passenger side vent ducting then adjusted the blend door into the full hot position. I then put a socket between the bracket and rod on the recirc valve in the engine bay so it's stuck open. Its cookin' hot in there now! Thanks for all the help...

The blend door stopped working on my 5A shortly after replacing the heater core. The plug actually failed to make a proper connection as there was no tension left in the plug itself. You can test this by playing around with the plug and running the temp slider from side to side. That door...

...and out of the heater core, there is no discernable noise difference when switching from cold to hot with the slider so I am guessing the blend door is seized? Where exactly is that located and can it be freed up? I removed the glovebox and don't see what the image shows it to be. Any help is...

    A/C issue - 82 Cordoba

So you do have the servo controlled blend door? The one on mine stopped working two years ago. When you run the temp slider side to side you should hear it actuate. That servo is a noisy little critter. What happened is the plug that connects to the servo assembly lost all tension and the...

    A/C issue - 82 Cordoba

There are two different issues here at play. The first one is the difference between “A/C” and “Max A/C” buttons. The difference there is the A/C control head turns off the hot water valve so the heater is out of the loop/out of play in this case when “Max A/C” is turned on. If A/C only blows...

    A/C issue - 82 Cordoba

No idea what fan speed would have to do with the A/C not working. However, if the blend door isn't working you'll get some heat, or a lot of heat unless you select MAX A/C. Along with the recirc door moving to inside air, it also shuts the coolant flow off to the heater core using a vacuum...

    A/C issue - 82 Cordoba

The AC does work in the other positions (Norm & Bi-Level), but it can't cool the car because the blend door is stuck on full heat (or the servomotor is broken). Max AC closes off outside air. The speed of the blower is controlled only by the fan switch.

I should have mentioned - yes, it is the semi automatic.. But why does the AC work, on highest fan speed, but not other speeds?
