    Check the setup of the.throttle lever. That's the rod linkage from carb to trans. It's important to setup correctly.

    The pigtail connectorat the rear of the engine should be for the oil pressure sending unit. l'm not familiar with the late 80's models, but attached to the air cleaner - that box should be the spark control (as you have a carburetor on the intake).     At least 79 has different switchplates for tilt and non-tilt. Although wiring diagram is kind of.the same, they work different (e.g. hazzard switch)

    With a small Carter you can remove the top cover (together with acc pump and choke rods) and watch the float level while running the engine. :cool:

    Some of those interchange numbers are implemented in online stores. I tend to use Rockauto first searching, re-searching part numbers, cross checking on partsbooks back-and-forth. Buckle up is good advice. :) But, that's only on some more basic technical parts. Moldings and such niceties are...
