Service manual (79) says Dexron or Dexron II. Start with 2 quarts, then check level in neutral while idling and add up to ADD mark (if at 80F operating temp) or up to FULL mark if at operating temperature.

These oldschool trannys are not that picky on the fluid, I'd say. My 727's (2x 69's and 1x 79's) and the 904 (LeBaron, 79) all get that Dexron 3.

ATF-3 / Dexron should suffice. As far as I remember they are interchangable with ATF-4, -4+ If you're talking 904/727.

Going to Sweden tomorrow with the A100 (LeBaron was up there two years ago). Approx 600 mls one way. More than 10.000 US classics expected everyday. Returning Sunday.

Did a cool ride today with the LeBaron and took a picture - amazingly, in my trunk there's a socket for dual bulbs, but only one wire going in... Take a look behind the plastics and you'll know what to do. The right socket is the "outer light", left socket is the middle one. Here's my ride:

IIRC the middle light is a single bulb (park only), not a dual (park + brake/flasher). Don't have my LeBaron (79) at my house right now, so I can't look it up, but what you want would mean to change the bulb socket to a dual one and wire it accordingly (same as left/right bulb. And I'm...

Don't do stall testing all the time. Your trans is easily toasted by flooring without movement. Temperature is getting sick inside trans. What's your trans oil color and odor already? (See and smell dipstick of trans)

Yes, I'm a bit early... :cool: But, thinking about it now, making plans and bookings up to Q4 this year seems reasonable, as we (good friend and myself) are coming from Germany... This idea is still in very early stage, but putting together some cool plans helps in making a positive decision...

Check the setup of the.throttle lever. That's the rod linkage from carb to trans. It's important to setup correctly.

The pigtail connectorat the rear of the engine should be for the oil pressure sending unit. l'm not familiar with the late 80's models, but attached to the air cleaner - that box should be the spark control (as you have a carburetor on the intake). I strongly suggest getting the service manual...

At least 79 has different switchplates for tilt and non-tilt. Although wiring diagram is kind of.the same, they work different (e.g. hazzard switch)
