Dang, that's a heck of a story! I'm getting to the "at my age" point as well. Ain't getting old grand?
Just be careful of the "might as well", "while I'm at it" snowball, lol. Happened with my Aspen, and quite frankly,,,,,,,glad it did. :)
Not sure about where you are, but the pumps here say "May contain up to 10% ethanol". Testing shows it's really anywhere from 0% up to 6%. That's 87 octane. Premium 91 is all ethanol free. There are a few stations with ethanol free 87 octane also (about 20 cents more per gal)
Either way, gas now...
Don't know if this will help. From a '79 parts catalog, and '79 service manual. May not apply to an '81.
Goes without saying but, don't drive it without the linkage hooked up. The trans won't last long without it.
Slightly off topic but, in the '90's I had an '81 D150. It had a vibration in the rear above 60 mph. I had put brand new wheels and tires on right after buying it, and they were round and balanced. Kind of just lived with it. Then I did the rear brakes, including new drums. After that, smooth as...
I wish! It's 470 miles taking the ferry across Lake Michigan for 82 miles, OR 570 miles taking I-90 or I-55 through Chicago and Gary (hell no, never again!!!). My point is, post some pics afterwards :)
Road force balancing simulates the tire with the cars weight on it, while driving down the road. Easier to show than explain
A good tire shop should have a road force balancer and hopefully, someone that knows how to use it correctly.
If the brakes pulse, the pads will "hit" the rotor even...
It would help narrow down causes if you knew the vibration frequency (Hz). There are electronic vibration analyzers, but a simple small engine mechanical tool will work. It helps to figure out if it's wheel/tire related, driveline, engine, etc.
Just a question. Do the brakes pulse at all? I've...
He made an illegal turn. You're supposed to turn into the nearest lane, and then if it's clear, SIGNAL and move to the other lane. Of course if there's multiple turn lanes, you stay in that lane (don't change lanes in the intersection). Not to mention he left the scene of a crash.
Reasons I'm...
There are sort of "universal" rollers avaiible. You'd need to select them using dimensions of the old ones. The broken bushing is a problem. About the only option (that I'm aware of) is to find a used piece with a good bushing.
If camber was off excessively, you'd notice more wear on the inner edge of the tire than the rest.
In most cases on an F/M/J, if it's at the limit of adjustment but still too far negative, installing the shims between the upper control arm bracket and k-frame "tower", will take care of it...
5.2/5.9 Magnum's don't grow on trees anymore, considering it's been 20 or so years since the last one was made. Most of the trucks they were in are long since rotted away and gone (depending of course, where you live).
