The process of elimination - post lean burn conversion troubleshooting

Charlene wouldn’t start tonight. Just cranked and cranked but no fire. First time since I started this thread. Tomorrow I’ll do some spark checks and see what’s up. I’m too tired to play with her tonight.

Cordoba down under and she is just about finished!

Very nice! Love the car with the new paint and everything you've done! Man, I wish I could find some leather seats for my 80 Cordoba :(

Warning about today's Gas and Carburated Cars.

Yup, I've been running non-ethenol since I bought my 80 Cordoba last year and haven't had any issues.

I could really use some door window parts; like the rubber/felt pieces that keep the glass from scratching against the metal parts. Do you have a list of parts you're willing to "part" with?

    Sagging passenger side

So, a small update; I just realized today (can't believe I'm just now noticing this after having the car for 5 months!) that I have one "oddball" tire that's a 215/75/15 where the other three are 205/75/15! Other than that, everything's been fine with ole Charlene.. She's been running great...

    Cool. Where is this yard?

    Busted Multi-function switch

They are! lol IDK one of the sides is loose (one of the horns).. so first I'd need to figure out how to secure them, so they don't fly off the car going down the road.

    Busted Multi-function switch

Thanks for sharing the knowledge Bud! It's fascinating. Chrysler obviously had some big changes going on in the years leading up to 1980. I wonder if there's anyone on the forums that has the same column and options that I have. I'd almost beg them for a picture of their high beam control setup...

    Busted Multi-function switch

Of course. The build date in the door jam label of my '80 was December 1979. All makes build their vehicles a year or more ahead. Obviously... The 2018 model year cars are already showing up at dealerships I'm sure. I was just saying, because you mentioned that you didn't think any '79 and...

    Busted Multi-function switch

I should point out that the wiper switch (part #3747561) that I installed was listed and sold as a '79 part. It even says '79 on the Mopar box it came in. It was definitely the correct part!

    Busted Multi-function switch

It wasn't that bad, especially once I figured out how to remove the ignition key/lock cylinder and the cover. I didn't disturb the tilt mechanism or anything else beyond the lock housing cover. I'd say the most difficult part of the whole job is that dang lock plate and the snap ring...

    Busted Multi-function switch

Looking through my '80 FSM, the exploded view of the tilt column calls this piece the "Rack". But the end of the metal "actuator" rod on mine looks a little different than what they show in this diagram.

    Busted Multi-function switch

Well, I figured it out. The lock housing, (in fact, the ignition lock cylinder itself has to come out for the lock housing to be removed) had to be removed. Once that was removed, the wiper switch, and it's respective pin were easily accessible. Then I was introduced to the whole feeding the...

Yes the turn signal switch is simple. But this wiper switch thing is a little more involved. Bud, you never finished your previous post that got cut off at the end.

    Busted Multi-function switch

Looks like your post got cut off at the end there Bud. Hmmm "Step 6 - the lock housing cover" I'm going to have to take another look at everything. I don't remember seeing these "2 screws" for the lock housing cover. And it still doesn't address the pin that holds the actual switch in place...

    Busted Multi-function switch

Yes, some words of wisdom would be great. Especially before I go in and start hacking away to try to remove the remaining piece of this broken part. What I really need is a miniature sawzall... like a tiny Barbie and Ken sized one lol... I don't know if I'll be able to fit my dremel tool/cutoff...

The first two pics are from the side where the multifunction lever arm was, you can see the pin sticking out on the lower left of both pics, holding what's left of the broken 3747561 part on. The pin doesn't have room to come out any further and won't go through in the other direction. This...
