    Removing body side moulding

Heat gun on low and the trim peeled right off. I just used a plastic scraper to give it a little nudge. All of the residue came off with the trim.

    1979 Volare wagon

No hit taken and you are right about the TQ’s. Four years ago we looking to buy another house that had a big garage a renovated interior and a decent yard. Couldn’t find a single thing at a $$ I could ever hope to afford. Ended up keeping this place. We redid the entire exterior which was old...

    1979 Volare wagon

So I got the shifter in, driveshaft in, brakes bled and the wagon is back on the ground. Brakes will need to be bled again. We have about 40 friends and family coming over tomorrow for an annual bbq and pool party. In preparation for that I had strict instructions from the Mrs to get the garage...

    1979 Volare wagon

Wagon update. Transmission is back in. Front suspension is back together. Brakes are done all around. I picked up another pair of torq thrusts for the rear. The list is getting shorter. I still have to bleed the brakes, install the shifter, install the driveshaft, get an alignment and a safety...

    so pulled the trigger...

Not sure how accurate you need it. The bumper shock is in the way when I took the pic but the upper part of the poly bushing is a little over 1 1/2 inches thick. I had a 1 1/2 inch piece of metal which fit between the k frame and the frame rail with a little wiggle room

    77 Diplomat Control arm mount

I would separate the ball joint stud from the steering knuckle, the upper shock bolt and the four bolts holding the mounting plate. Then you can remove the entire assembly and work on a bench. No need to remove the ball joint unless you’re replacing it. You’ll need the appropriate socket and a...

    77 Diplomat Control arm mount

Here is a pic of the arm, the pivot bar and mounting bracket. The round hole in the bracket is where the upper mount of the shock attaches.

    Thanks Jim

Just wanted to give a big thanks to F Body Jim. He sent me a badly needed upper A arm for the wagon. Nice rust free part. Quick shipping. Great guy.

    Aftermarket Tachometer

Factory radio was gone so that was a good spot and no damage done to the dash. As for music a good Bluetooth speaker paired to my phone or iPod gives decent sound and it can be moved between cars.

    1979 Volare wagon

Work on the wagon continues. I got the front end parts back from the blaster. I pressed out lower control arm bushings and ball joints with minimal fuss. The reassembly was easy and a quick coat of paint had the arms looking good. The upper arms did not go so well. The ball joints weren't too...

    1979 Volare wagon

Greetings Oldiron. Not sure what an 883 is unless I mis-typed something in an earlier post. I picked up the transmission. The guy who worked on it said it is an O/D case that had been rebuilt with a non O/D gear set. He said all of the gears/bearings were in good shape when he disassembled it...
