    Anyone ever used Yukon axles?

Dr. Diff is great to deal with. Good prices and if you aren't sure of what you need, call him and he will help you out. He knows this stuff inside and out right off the top of his head.

M body Chrysler almost wins demo derby

Around here the demo derby queers have pretty much ruined all the old cars. They're pretty serious about it too. Before the older fleet ford crown vics started being cheap to pick up at auction, they were stripping and smashing low miles show quality survivor stuff. Even going out of state to...

    I've killed it....

I only ever saw one slant six throw a rod. It was in an '80s pickup my buddy was junking. He wanted to see if it would blow up, thought it may go just from holding it wide open. After a few minutes I trickled a handful of small gravel in the carb. Finally it threw a rod out thru the block and...

    8 3/4 rear end help

If it's a power lock, (two halves that bolt together) the thrust block is two little t shaped buttons that go in from each side and are held together with a roll pin. Often the roll pin is broken and they stick to the end of the axle and fall into the rear end when pulling the axles. At least...

    Power to Manual F Body

I bolted a box from a '66 Belvedere right on my car pitman arm and all. I found a couple u joints off of steering columns with the same splines at the junk yard and made a bit longer shaft to go between the box and column.

how much power can a 8 1/4 take?

For the average person an 8 3/4 is going to be perfectly fine. Quickly getting harder and more $ to find though. I wouldn't waste my time with an 8 1/4 or an 8.8 ford. The 9 inch is nice because it is easy to setup and has plenty of aftermarket stuff available including beefier center sections...

    7 1/4 to 8 1/4 rear end

The trucks were never 4 3/4 bolt circle. Either 4 1/2 or 5 1/2. A truck housing is a little wide though. Unless its a super deal, I'd keep looking for something narrower. I had a 68-70 b body 8 3/4 in my car for many years with a set of 11x2 1/2 drums and backing plates from a '77 W100...

    Blinkers and tail lights quit

I've had the contacts in my turn signal switch get crusty and cause em not to work. I cleaned em up and they worked fine again. Ive also had the all the sockets in the back get corroded and none of the rear lights worked. And as mentioned above, check your grounds.

A-body floor tunnel in an FMJ?

I used an A body hump in my diplomat. Took a little massaging and a little trimming along the bottom and back edge but it wasn't too bad. Worst for me was at the back where the floor curves up to the tunnel, the hump had a pretty good gap in that area. I split the difference by bending the...

    Customer service outsourcing

My local parts stores are terrible, any thing I ever need they have to order like spark plugs, air filter, brake pads, alternator, etc. The only thing I can rely on walkng out of napa with is an oil filter, advance seems to have more parts on stock, but the employees are just job fillers that...

WTB: part of power steering gear box

That's what I usually do. I go to the local junk yard and get u-joint style couplers and make my own adapters. A lot of times there are racks out of front wheel drives laying around I take a factory coupler with me to try on whatever I find just to make sure it will match my splines, they...

    Frame connectors

never did get to the e brake issue yet. i've been kind of focused on putting the engine together. but i was just going to weld a piece of pipe through the connector at the proper angle and rig up an extension for the cable off the pedal. i'll have to shorten the big cable hoop from the drums but...
