I visited my brother in Tulsa OK, this weekend . . . and found out what happened to my missing ’84 125 MPH police speedometer.

Several years back, he was traveling through OKC and a wheel came off of his trailer (he had bought a ’70 (or ’71) ‘Cuda convertible (in pieces) that he was hauling). We off-loaded all but the shell in my garage for a while so he could get trailer fixed. He got trailer fixed, repacked and he went on his way. That might have been 10 years ago – I can’t remember.

We went to his garage, this weekend, to show the progress he has on his ‘Cuda and guess what I found in a pole barn nearby, my missing instrument cluster (actually, the entire bin is mine).

No lid and this is pretty much as I had found it (except I drained out 20+ gallons of water first).

It appears my bin got packed up with his stuff that day, and on top of that, not protected from the elements. Most of the contents of that bin, I had to toss out.

That cluster only had 30k miles on it and I have a feeling it won’t be worth fixing.

Does anyone happen to have a spare 125 MPH M-body speedometer they are willing to part with?

I will be taking mine out hopefully soon. I'm waiting on my custom bezel, then have to install senders and wire all new gauges..but once that's done..ill have no use for it anymore
 
Sounds good (and thank you).

I would like to see how things progress with your gauges.

I have been looking for that cluster for years and figured there can only be so many places it can hide at.
Still have the “odd” bezel (with the oil pressure gauge more or less attached to it), wiring harnesses and so forth.
The good news is I’m still a way from needing the cluster – so no worries.

There has to be a moral to the story in there somewhere - but I don't see it.

Not yet.
Been debating to clean it up now, leave it out (to dry) until ready for it (wife has me on a few “critically more important” projects currently – or should I say “more critical” to her), or maybe getting some clean water and re-submerge it for the time being.

The water I drained out looked like swamp water – with leaves and acorns in the mix.

I’m thinking it might be repairable – unless too much rust or the gauge faces are stained.
If it wasn’t for the fact it is a fairly low mileage 125 MPH cluster, I would just toss it.

Just not sure what to do on this kind of “flood” damage.

Even stained gauge faces can be cleaned. My 125 Speedo was brown as hell and I cleaned it up really easy. I'll have to post pics.
 
Thanks! The stuff works wonders, you don't even have to scrub really, it mostly wipes right off.
 
I used soft scrub to clean my white interior years ago,did an excellent job,looks like you found another use for it.
 
I'm looking to purchase one of these speedos for my m-body if anyone comes across one for sale, please send me a PM.
