Hey Good People, I need a trany for my 1977 Diplomat build. If you have a 1976-77 A904 out of a 318 Chrysler, Plymouth, Dodge, Valiant or Dart and are interested in parting with it let me know.
You can identify this trany by looking on the left side case flange next to the pan, the stamped number should be 4028406.
Thanks!

Unless there's a specific reason you need that one any rwd car and a lot of truck 904s right up to 89 will work and the later ones are more proffered.

A friend of mine found one for under $200 on car-part.com with shipping the last time he needed one.

1981 and later are the heavier duty 999 version and also have wider ratios. That would be my choice.

Be aware that at some point Chrysler switched to lock up converter. You can tell by the input shaft not having splines all the way to the end of the input shaft where it goes into the converter. But any RWD non 727 tranny through 89 will work. Just make sure you have the right converter for the the tranny you get.

I have a used 904 out of a 318 76 volare rr. I never checked the numbers on it yet. The car was driving when I removed it.
