1980 Dodge Aspen Sedan
225 slant six 3 spd 904 auto 7.25 axle open diff
Base Model
No Ac, manual windows and locks
Looks good
Runs good
Drives good

Pioneer Stereo, 4 JBL speakers (2 in front dash and two in rear window "dash"), bluetooth with handsfree phone
The speakers are not original to the car, in the front I mounted under the metal dash in the front two corners and drilled very small holes in a matching circular pattern in the metal above where they mounted.
In the rear I cut the holes in the rear dash for the speakers where the holes underneath (as accessed from the trunk) dictated.
Wiring is all ran behind trim (can't see any of it), stereo sounds good.
Rest of interior is original and all in very good shape

Surface rust on rockers and bottom of doors, still way more paint than rust there, no holes anywhere
Surface rust underneath, no holes anywhere.
The Bumper brackets extending back to the rear bumper are the worst and look a little crunchy. The rear bumper itself looks much better from the back of the can than it does from underneath, to be honest I am not sure if the rear bumper will be salvageable or not in the long run. The bumper looks great from the back of the car. From underneath or the backside of it you can see rust holes through the rear bumper. I haven't researched, maybe somebody repairs these, or maybe they are still "findable"
Some pain on the transmission bracket and around there is missing from leaking ATF being wiped off over and over, but there is no rust there
This body has 68.000 original miles on it and is overall very nice, no surprises.

Engine is not original to car.
I have a single barrel carburetor with the choke pulled open.
When I bought the engine for $250, I did the oil pan gasket and the valve cover gasket. I did see carbon build up inside on rockers and crankshaft.
I put it together, new intake and exhaust manifolds, studs and bolts, new paint, put the old carb on there, deleted that heat activated choke thing from the manifold, new distributor, new fuel pump, new power steering pump, new brakes and rotors.
I have a manual choke kit, but I didn't want to screw up my dash bezel and was always thinking about port EFI down the road anyways.
There is a custom exhaust, the equivalent of a straight pipe with a cherry bomb muffler, sounds like a harley, I have the idle low, maybe it sounds like a race car, not fast liek one though LOL
The engine runs rich, from the carbon build up inside, I wonder how much is blow by, but I know the open choke on the carb doesn't help either.
Every time you start it or rev it up while not moving it leaves a little black spot of carbon under the down turned tailpipe, but its just carbon, rain washes it away
Rear end needs new shocks and leaf springs at the very least, right now it say all around, I still drive it around the country highways and have a ton of fun but it has an exaggerated body roll, everything is still together, just crusty and old and tired. The rear end was actually going to be my next project.
The transmission lines kept leaking, so I got some 1/8 NPT to 3/8" barb brass fittings and screwed those into the transmission and got a cheap transmission cooler off of amazon mounted behind the front grill and I ran transmission gooler line or high pressure fuel line (I forget). If anything it is a very slow drip when warm now and the hose clamps are easy to access. Transmission shifts and drives just like its supposed to but I would guess that it is original and has never been rebuilt.
The front suspension actually feels and looks ok
I have a very slow oil leak out of the front of the engine, barely a drop but there is crud on the K Member up there. Could be from the oil pan gasket I did, could be from the water pump housing gasket, IDK
All that said, this thing cruises 70 down the highway per the GPS (the speedo will tell you you are doing 65), runs extremely well and has never not started for me
I do not drive it on the Freeway though, I stay off it. 4 years ago I blew the original engine up clickin down the Freeway at 80+, so I am nicer to this one

This car is identical to the first car I owned when I was 15.
I have owned this particular car twice in the past four years.
I have blown the engine out of it, put a new used one it.
I installed a stereo.
I have only driven it a few months each summer that I owned it. While it was owned by other people I don't think they even put 200 miles on it.
I bought this car 4 years ago within a few miles of the Chrysler dealership where it was sold new in South Western MN.
It would take 15-20K and hundreds of labor hours to get this car where I want it to be and I am not sure my return of enjoyment would be worth that investment, and I know I'd loos money.
I am unable to leave it as it is and just enjoy it.
So I am going to sell it for what its worth.
Maybe someone else will love it.

This long post is everything I know about the car.
I'm an honest person, this is a car I daily drive but is totally a project, and a cash as is sale.

I also currently have a 8 3/4 axle I bought for rebuild for this car. It is a 66-70 B Body, so it would bolt right in. I am selling this separate for $500.

$4500 cash only for the car. Local pick up, will not ship.

Ooh, another TT4 natural suede tan Aspen. How are the seats and interior so nice? Mine have been torn to shreds since the 90s and it was never really abused. It must be the climate. It gets super hot sitting outside in the sun here.

Just trying to close this thread.
I didn't sell the car but I marked this thread as sold.
I had this cross posted and had a pretty good offer yesterday that was a coupe hundred short of my bottom dollar.
Made me realize I didn't want to sell the car.
I'm keeping it.
