79 LeBaron Steering Wheel Project

Sucker....
Pretty sure somebody, somewhere is gonna sneak over to the cemetery and put that on my future headstone.

Waaaaay back in June, late one evening, I was looking through my pictures trying to get myself organized and realized that the current steering wheel for the Lebaron has several cracks in it.

Somehow I found myself going down the rabbit hole and the next thing I realize, my pocketbook is open and a delivery made it to my house. I neglected a lot of things these past months. Finally trying to clear the battlefield of my house and I found this in a box:

So it looks like my brain decided I needed another more busted steering wheel to practice rehabbing before I work on the one in the car.

And notice it is that lovely, luscious, wonky green to 'accent' the mint green interior.
And best of all, not only do I not have a place to work on it, I have no knowlege, tools, or special jigs to hold it either.
I don't even remember buying it.

Note to self: lock your wallet in the safe after dark and do not buy any more projects. Finish at least one before you start another one.

I’ve seen a few videos recently for this. None of them seemed particularly fancy realistically more of a, pick your preferred filler medium and fill, sand and refinish. It all comes down to the individuals attention to detail and tenacity…something tells me yours will come out looking just fine. Expanding foams seemed to be popular for filler, i imagine because it’s easy enough to sand/cut/shape and still be durable.
