82 New Yorker Ignition Cylinder replacement

Just bought a nice 82 New Yorker Fifth Ave, but before I could get a spare key made, my son lost the ignition key. I will replace the ignition cylinder, but have no idea how to go about it. I have a repair manual coming, but it is 5 days out. I need to get this car going before that. Does anyone have a link to instructions or can post what I need to do? any help would be greatly appreciated.

Call a locksmith a lot of them can make a duplicate key instead of replacing the lock cylinder. Find one that is old school.
