Just bought the recharge kit for my '87 5th.
It has a slow leak.
If I refill it, it lasts the whole season. But this is the first time that "I'm doing it"
I know the deal with the gauge and the cans (upside down.. Don't pierce till ready, etc.)
Just want to double check which side to put the juice in
Car running? A/C on? What setting? Hi, low?
Thanks.

Low side port.
Engine running
A/C on hi
You might have to jump the low pressure cut-off swith for the clutch to engauge.
Purge the air out of the fill hose on your can.
You dont want any air in your system, the little bit in the hose will effect the system.

Thanks for the quick response.
Bought the "Redtek" kit.
Just did it now.
Blowing nice and cold.
I didn't purge the hose though.
Hopefully I didn't screw anything up.
Seems to be working great.
Thanks again.

Well technically what's done is done.
Like I said seems to be working fine.
Anything I should watch for?

That's why I wanted it done.
We've been getting roasted for a few days now.
Actually a lot cooler today. Thankfully.
I can deal with getting char-broiled in July and August
But I'm not ready for it in May.

If you don't have access to a leak detector, get the dye impregnated refrigerant, & after refills, periodically check with ultra violet light to find leaks. Check under hood first as it's easier to find the dye. If no leaks are found, then it's inside to check the heater box (evaporator core) for dye streaks. If you do have access to a leak detector, when checking with probe, try to position it below component as refrig. is heavier than air. Good luck, Larry
