choke rod length

how do you determine the electric choke rod length? iam using one from ? on a 2bbl carter (318, factory intake) an rod length seems to be too long, it stays closed against the pull off n floods out tks

Sounds like you have to do some trial and error to figure it out.

I think the standard way to adjust the lenght is to put a bend in the rod somewhere near the middle.

If you're using a stock style bbd and factory inkate you should be able to get one for a 2bbl 318 upto 1984. I think the pull off part number changed in 85 when they went holley. If you're using the wrong one the length will be off.
