Cylinder Head Sleeves on carbureted engines

Has anyone ever used/ heard someone used cylinder wall repair sleeves? I saw these things on Rockauto for about 10 bucks a piece, but I can´t help wondering how are these installed? I know that in tractors and large trucks the cylinders are totally replaceable, but in our cars as well?

The cylinder has to be bored out to accept the sleeve. they are used for repairing a block that has a damaged cylinder wall.

Nothing wrong with sleeving a block. But sometimes machine shop work is more than its worth.
