There are a couple of versions of cornering lamps used on M (and even a different version for J) bodies.

One or two states (US) require cornering lamps for new car sales. It is an option (if ordering a new car) for other states – but dealers not affected by law, didn’t order that option.

The cornering lamps/bulbs don’t put off enough light for me to consider very effective – but that’s just my opinion.

Production for station wagons - Diplomat and LeBaron :

Diplomat -
1978 - 10,906
1979 - 7,785
1980 - 3.673
1981 - 2,832

LeBaron -
1978 - 21,504
1979 - 17,463
1980 - 7,939
1981 - 6,123

Chrysler also built the Caravelle for Canadian Plymouth dealers. Came out for 1978 and was built through 1989. The 1978-1981 models were basically Diplomat models with grille, taillight and trim differences. The 1982 to 1989 Caravelle Salon models share everything with the US Gran Fury, except nameplates.

Do not have break down for Caravelle production but it would have been close to 10% of Diplomat production.
