In '79 the 360 had the SC(small cam) and BC(big cam). What's up with E46 and E47? THX

Both options were 155 horse 4 barrel 318's. Both were also H engine code. The E47 was listed as HD and not available with California emissions. HD with steel crank for truck/van/motorhome applications? Just a guess.
For 4 barrel 360's I see 3 listed for 79. A E56, J engine code, 195 horse, available in Cali. and 2 E58, L engine code. One was 190 horse and one was 195 horse, both available in Cali. Those 2 may be the "small cam and big cam" you mentioned.

MY CA 318-4V came with dual cats with dual air pumps. Never saw a dual air pump ever. Saw a Chrysler bulletin mentioning it with no part#'s or exploded views.

L code 360 was E58 engine. 195 hp in US, 200 in Canada. Only differences in California would've been along the lines of distributor/computer/carb, but the E58 was definitely available in '79 throughout North America. Things were really looney in '79. I had a '79 St Regis A38, with an E58. It had an igniting control box with adjustable advance. It also had a mini cat on the left side (but not the right), no main cat on the left, and no h-pipe. I couldn't get anyone to work on it, but an old-timer mechanic at the dealer came over and looked at it, and said it all looked correct.

For 1980, different story. No 360 in California cars. No 360 for ANY cars after March of 1980.

According to my 1981 parts manual, the E46 engine was essentially a run of the mill 318 with a 4 bbl intake on it. The E45 had a 2 bbl intake with some heavy duty features like double row timing chain. The E48 got all the heavy duty high performance stuff, special cam, special heads, timing chain, valves, 4 bbl intake, exhaust manifolds, bearings, and windage tray. It doesn't mention the E47 so I assume it was no longer available.
