The alternator stamped with 4111204 is Chrysler part number 4176006, which is the 78 amp alternator with two groove pulley. The rest of the number seen before "4111204" is the rating of "78" and the date code of 4, 1986.

The three alternators used in 1987 on the 318 in the M-bodies were as follows:
- 60 Amp, regular case
- 78 Amp, regular case
- 114 Amp, large case

Alternator choice depended on electrical load options, emission options, with or without air conditioning, and application use. The large case 114 Amp alternator was used in police and other fleet applications and vehicles with heavy electrical loads.

The following image shows an example of the 60/78 amp "regular case" and the 114 amp "large case":

1987 was the last year of production for the 114 amp alternator, which was replaced in 1988 by the new Chrysler 90/120 amp alternators.
