Hello everyone, I have yet another issue with my 84 Gran Fury. Has anyone had any problems with the fan speed switch for your hvac? Mine works, but gets VERY hot.

They tend to get poor electrical connections, which means high resistance and that causes heat. I'd almost bet the fan switch connector is melted. Same can also be from high resistance in the switch itself.

I've seen the plastic connector melted quite a few times but sounds like yours is fine.

One thing to check, if possible, is the amp draw of the blower motor. If it's excessive, the switch could get hotter than normal. Take a look at the connector at the blower resistor also, just to be sure but even if it's loose or melted, shouldn't affect the switch though.

Throwing out random things that can cause excessive heat is all.

Clean up the ground connection too. A poor ground also introduces more resistance to the circuit. Always a good thing to do for any electrical troubleshooting in older vehicles.
